Who has their internal W/G routed into the atmos.? I've heard many externals and they aren't that loud, it seems like dumping the stock internal W/G couldn't be any louder than a full external set-up. I ask this because I don't know if I'm going to be able to afford a full 3" exhuast because I will be buying the cat-back before the DP, (probably a 3" cat-back with the stock DP and 2.5" test pipe, then later geting a 2.5" DP). I now understand that extreme backpressure is the main limiting factor for turbochargers at higher altitudes, and I want to eleviate this as much as possible; this is why I'm considering dumping the W/G into the atmos.

Do you all think I could get away with the 2.5" DP and strait pipe if dump the W/G and have a 3" cat-back? I would be pushing the 14B until it fails, then some sort of internally gated 50trim hybrid or similar will be finding it's way under the exhaust mani.:) I'm adiment about the internal gate though, because I don't have lots of money for an external set-up and I have to be able to make it emissions friendly in an afternoon, (switch in stock cat and 02 housing).

Thanks for the help guys!

Dump tubes are LOUD. I used to have one... It wasnt too bad except for when I was WOT next to a semi or a noise barrier.

Then my ears would ring. Ugh.

As far as trading off noise for performance, would I see any significant gains on the stock turbo? I might just wait until the bigger turbo, but if I can feel an increase in power on the stocker, I'll probably dump it.

Is there a way to check for leaks in the W/G seal without taking out the turbo? I definately won't dump it if the 14B has a crcked turbine housing (which I guess many do) that causes exhust to leak out the W/G passage.

I don't have the means to afford a big speeding ticket, 'cause six points isn't much to work with; I definately won't be speeding around town and I think I could keep it below the set boost just driving around, not opening the W/G if it was really too loud for city use.

Thanks for the reply
