I know there are a lot of people starting businesses and fabricating on this board (Hoff). My question is, the hatch isn't the most stable design for road racing or just doing turns around town. Is there any braces for the trunk/hatch that doesn't require the back seat from being removed. I would like to retain this because of privicy issues. I don't want just anyone coming along and seeing what I have in the "trunk."

If this isn't possible because of the atachment points let me know.

Nice to see you again Jason.

We haven't started fabricating yet. Maybe about mid season.

There is really nothing wrong with the design for the trunk area. Get the RRE rear brace and be happy. You can even run 2 if you want. :p

Your best bet is stock front sway/RM racing rear sway.

I'll throw in a low cost/high performance alternative that I've done on a couple of road racing cars.(1G's) On the rear trailing arm, the large nuckle is actually held in via a rubber bushing. What we have done is remove them from the car, and wire wheel all accessable rubber away. Then take some huge washers, 1/4" thick, and cut them in half. Then take those and weld them over the "ball" arm to the trailing arm. This keeps the alignment true by eliminating the flex in the rubber bushing. It's honestly the best handling mod per buck i've ever seen.

Part of the problem is Jason has a 2g and the other problem is its WWD.

I think RRE has a pretty good handle on making FWDs handle well for time trials and road racing.

Its just with as light as the backend already is, a stiffer rear sway bar will work better than chassis bracing at this point.

Well, maybe my description wasn't clear?
This mod only allows the rear wheels to stay "true-er" to straight. Basically, less toe in and out flexablilty during hard cornering.
It doesn't stiffen the chassis at all...

I understood. And yes that is good a mod.

I was just trying to stick to the topic. Upper chassis bracing.

a bit late but-

anything you bolt in ie a cage, roll bar, or "crossbrace" is going to have some small "feel" of adding stiffness and is honestly about the best you can do while making compromises to keep it a street car- for a true track car a bolt in anything not properly thought out is a waste of time, money, and weight- the only cages worth having are properly designed welded in structural units- even the SCCA knows this which is why in IT classes cages are only permitted to be of the protection type which add minimal chassis rigidity.

also while the sway bars you buy from RRE etc are ok for a compromise car(they will give you some "feel" of being better, add a margin of roll stiffness, and possibly give you a lower time) they are completely wrong for a track car
