How is the Thermal 3" exhaust system for the 1g?

I have one installed. It's very nice quality with full mandrel stainless steel from the tip forward. The flanges they use are made of mild steel or something else though. I'm already getting some rust spots on them  . It looks like the entire catback is made of only two pieces of mandrel bent pipe. The welds are of decent quality (read: not the best, not the worst) and has no slag anywhere.

The piping itself is kinda thin (IMO), but is actually very strong for how thin it is. Makes it lighter than other catbacks too.

the muffler and tip itself are all polished stainless also. The tip is welded on so it exits under the bumper straight to the rear, no angled tips here.

If you're going to use a 2 1/2" or 3" downpipe and cat or testpipe, you'll have to modify the front flange on the catback. It has an adapter flange so it will bolt directly to a stock cat and downpipe.

Mine is installed on a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD.

Hmmm, I think thats the system that looks the best to me. I'm not sure though. Will be a while til i have the money to do it. Thanks for the feedback though.

My original plan was to get a Thermal cat back also. After talking to others, I decieded to go with a custom built system for cheaper. They are not as cool as the prebuilt systems, but they work as well and can be tuned to your liking.

Conrad at Bud's muffler in Denver made me a great 3" cat back for cheap. He put two resonator pipes, a Flowmaster muffler, and a Thermal R&D tip on. He also painted the who system a silver and then polished the tip. The whole thing cost me about $300. Well worth it to me!!

Good luck on whatever you deciede to do!:D

I also make systems.

For $350 I can make everything you see in the pic. A cat costs $60 more, and I have to put a cat on if the car is not trailered in :(

This system was done a long time ago and is aluminized. I now work with stainless only and a stainless system TIG welded with mandrel bends looks really good. I can also eliminate one bend at the muffler for even better flow, but the muffler would come out at an angle like a lot of the Honda ricers you see out there.
