i just tried to install my new 3 inch exhaust today. i could not get the damn bolts connecting downpipe with the o2 housing. i do not want to go to a place and get it installed and waste 100 bucks. since its a stock o2 i will probably have bad boost creep and need to upgrade anyway.then i can just unbolt the whole thing and forget the two connecting screws. what 02 housing is best. custom external dumps, recirculating dumps or a ported 2g housing. whats the difference with these. thanks for the help.

Your gonna have to describe a little more clearly how it won't attach.

i cant get the bolts out to remove downpipe from 02 housing. does anybody know differences between 02 dumps to atmosphere vs. other ones like ported 2g housings

The bolts are too tight and you can't get em loose? Is that what your saying? Go drive your car and get it hot and then as soon as you get back home jack up the car and the bolts should come right off. Works every time for me and alot of others. Heat does wonders.

you can also try some liguid wrench, that stuff does wonders. just spray it on the bolts and bang them with something heavy and then let it sit for a couple hours. this has always helped me.

If the bolts being too tight are you're only problem, you are probably one of the lucky ones :) But as far as o2 housings...I am running a ported 2g O2 housing that seems to be doing a great job. Granted I am only pushing about 24psi on a small 16g but that is still quite a bit of airflow...Just my 2 cents...

If you want a real O2 housing, I can make you a 2.5 or 3" stainless steel, mandrel bent, and TIG welded unit for around $175 (yes, it will even have an O2 bung, and even a 2nd one for a wide-band if you wish). Will look professional, and out-flow any cast piece of garbage.

does this seem like a good deal, its not all stainless steel, but mild steel not sure what that really means.

Mandrel bent 2.5" tubular o2 housing with
atmosphere dump. Built with mild steel piping,
stainless steel o2 bung, laser cut flanges and
a high temp coating.

I used to work with aluminized steel all the time. That stuff sucks to weld. The welds are sloppy, as you can see in the pic, and it leaves a lot of metal inside the pipe. Also, all the welds will start to flake off and rust inside over time.

That high temp coating is pretty funny. It looks like wal-mart 1200 degree paint, but it's hard to tell in a pic. You HAVE to coat welds when dealing with aluminized steel, or it will rust and just look like total crap.

That unit is far batter than a cast unit, but it could be a lot better.

I guess it's up to you. My stainless units look professional and are fitted TO your car, and is only $25 more.

God don't get me started on aluminized steel, freakin junk IMHO

I hear ya. Stainless is so nice to weld because it's so clean. Just the fumes alone from the aluminized pipes probably took 20 years off my life. It costs 2x as much for the SS pipes, but well worth it IMO.
