I'm trying to tune a 95 GSX. so far i've seen 24 psi on 105 octane. But the problem is i don't know whats going on. This is a friends car. the mods are as follows- small 16G, hallman boost control, dejon hard upper intercooler pipes, hard lower pipes, no cat, no muffler, and an ACT 2600. The motor is stock 99,9xx miles, stock fuel system and nothing to control anything. the car runs really hard hit 13.3 with these mods full weight at bandimere. I was wondering if any of you with a data logger might let me borrow your logger so i can turn the boost back up and i guess tune for knock. i know he needs more but we're working on that. young college kid. I just need it for maybe a day or two. also wnat to find out where the car is on pump gas as well. say 22 PSI yesterday, I didn't turn it up and ran fine. i dont want to risk my friends motor it his daily driver.
thanks steve

On pump gas you shouldn't run any more than 15-16psi on that turbo. Call it safe there and wait till you get something like DSMLink.

With the B16g, stock IC & injectors, walbro 255 I was able to run 19psi to redline in 3 gears. With out causing a CEL(the dsmlink knock light :) ) I had no tuning done, but any more than that and it would knock too much..
Also the stock IC was completely heat soaked after a pull and became useless.

ya, but he is on the stock fuel system.....i know every car is different. but 22psi. on a 16g with 91 and the stock fuel system plus no way of knowing what's going on = LEAN. i would bet money the timing is not good. pull the boost down to 12-13 psi. untill you have a logger. i had similar mods last summer and was losing timing on anything above 14psi. with pump gas. with 104 i could go to 18psi. but anything above that and timing got pulled big time above 5500rpm's. once i put the 190 pump in i could run up to 18 on pump and have good timing and go up to 22psi. (even higher if i wanted) on 104 and be fine. just thought i would share some personal experiences.

remember even when running 105 octane and running high boost are a bad combo!!! knock is what you get as a result of high boost and not enought fuel. knock is bad because instead of having a smooth cylender pressure, it is very tubulant and uneven. (loss of power) so if you plan on not knocking and causing damage to your motor, i reccomend you run only 14.5 - 15 psi on a stock fuel system. some say its still good to get you into the 13's, but with out damage is the question. its not a matter of when, it will. you can burn out pistons and rings, blow head gaskets, burn out valve seats and all the other fun surprises dsm's have. Good luck tuning.
