Greetings from Wyo. Just signed up cuz i'm a first time owner of a 98 eclipse spyder 2.4L. I'm looking into making this a quicker car and first up on the list is new suspension before i get into engine work. One question thats goin thru my head is if its possible to do alot of engine upgrades without going to the turbo, or is it more sound to go with the turbo. I'm not into the NOS and don't want to go that path. But is port and polishing a good idea. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure you guys are gonna be curious if this car is gonna be for drag racing or for looks, and at this point in time i'm not putting interest in the drag racing. What i do want is a car that will move when i happen to step down on the accelerator. So what's everyone's thoughts???

The best mods you can do based on HP per dollar would be a cold air intake and an exhaust.

Considering the cost of making real power, your best bet beyond that would be a good nitrous setup.

Yeah I'm gonna have to go with Hal on that one. Past that point your only options are a turbo setup or rebuilding the engine for pretty high compression.
