is anyone tuning with this, i know its pretty new but it seems to be better than the dsmlink and its available for all 4g63's, even the new evo's thanks......if u havent seen it check it out at mackv at http://www.machv.com/ectuanddalop.html i am very excited about this, i also post put at tuners.com and alot of people like it im just wanting to see if anyone is using it out here
No, it's not even close to being "better" than DSMLink.
It is a piggy back, and with that comes all of the issues associated with a piggy back.

It doesn't have functions for stutterbox, n20 control, NLTS, doesn't compenstate for larger injectors, this is better?
This looks like an AFC3, confuse the ecu for fuel but now with a little bit of timing.

Better then DSMLink? Do you hang out at t00ners a lot? Hmm, like mentioned already it is not even close to DSMLink, but that was already covered....

Yeah, it is still a piggyback no matter how you look at it. The guy that made it is really smart though and does know what he is talking about. I do like it's features more than the AFC, but that is basically what it is--an AFC you tune on a laptop that includes a little bit of timing control.
It does have a niche in the DSM world: untill Link comes out for 1Gs and unless you want to go full stand-alone, ECU+ looks like the best option for 1Gs at a great price.
I don't understand all the negative responses, no one really uses it yet; but it is true that it really doesn't come close to DSMLink.

but for a 1g wits better than this besides standalone.....im tired of waiting for a dsmlink for my car......and u dont need a eprom for the ecu (unlike the 2g's that dont have one).....ems is way more than most of us are ever going to need, the price isnt bad at all 429...
I think tuning the ECU+ is pretty simple. Make some runs, log them, then compare them back to back to see if the car has more or less HP in a given band. I don't see how you can do this any other way - this is basically how it's done on a dyno. How would you make this simpler?
by the by compare prices on stuff for tuning for a 1g and even a 2g
for 2G's, this may be the best solution for those in need of basic to moderate tuning--i.e. not willing to go all the way up to DSMLink. The OBD-II logger (pocketlogger for 2G's) logs less items and does so slower than ECU+. Then we need to buy an air/fuel controller (SAFC-II, etc.). Those two items will run about $500, both new. If you get the ECU+ now, you get it for less than $450, and you can log more items, log faster, and change not only air/fuel but timing as well.
but i still wanna know if anyone is running this and how u like it
and i also appreciate everyones educated opinions on this subject.....KEEP'm commin thanx;)
$450 for the ECU+ is not a whole lot less than DSMLink, even if you have to buy an eprom ECU, and you get a LOT less functionality.
Both in terms of capability as well as logging.
If you need something NOW get a used AFC because the 1g DSMLink is coming, no doubt about that.
People who think the ECU+ is as good as DSMLink are simply showing that they have no idea exactly what DSMLink does, how it does it, and what it's capabilities are.
With the advent of DSMLink, people have come to learn that there is FAR more to making a DSM run properly than adjusting the timing and "fuel".

a afc and data logger would be more expensive than the ecu+,add the timing features and a gtec to that and u get the ecu+......allot of uses for 429 if u ask me....

You missed the point. You can get a used AFC for 150$ or so, and when 1G dsmlink comes out, sell it and get your money back, and then buy DSMlink.

i see where you are coming from, but i find afc's for no cheaper than 200 online, then data logging included......this will runs me close to if not as much as the ecu+ brand new.....to each his own but the ecu+ is like a afc3 with data logging and gtec capabilities...i see your point, but its the cheapest and im sure that the dsm link wont be cheap(or come out anytime soon )for my car (the need to put an eprom emulator on the new dsm link) remember the 1g doesnt come with obdII so an emulator will be needed... if they dont make a eprom emulator than ull need to burn chips all the time....and we propb wont get a free setup like the gm fellas for programing these chips ;) just me 2 cents thanks
