im in the same boat, i know not how to tune. But i have been learning from just looking though posts in differnt forums(dsmtalk,dsmtuners,dsmtimes....) anyways, do you have a pocketlogger? i would advise that you get one of these they are awsome!!!!!!! by the by if you ever come down to the springs ill give a hand, i also have a buch of buddies that are familiar with tuning a afc. BUT GET A DATA LOGGER, I hear that afc's cant read knock well....

DSMTuners is probably single handedly the WORST place to learn to tune. I'd rather let Shiv teach me.

I've found this link helpful for people when they're learning to tune: http://www.racingknowledge.org/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1011

RRE also provides a guide on their website.

There are no "parrameters" for the AFC it's going to differ from car to car. The best thing to do is get a data logger and tune for no knock. Even with the data logger if you want it dead on you need one of two things dyno time or a wideband O2 sensor which runs around $500.

So your best beat right now is to find some one that is near you that has a data logger and to get rid of any knock you have.

Oh and for future ref. thry to tune for an A/F ratio of 12:1 to 13:1 without knock.

Good luck :)

First off, tuning for "no knock" will lead to a severely underpowered setup. NEVER tune for no knock, tune for low knock instead. All engines have a accepted noise level, shoot for an area which will produce good horsepower with little knock. Secondly trying to shoot for a 13:1 AFR with a AFC is like asking to blow your engine, especially with a DSM. I would suggest tuning for 11:1 AFR. When you get a real tuning device and a forged internal engine then shoot for 12-12.5:1

agreed....with the afc and 105 i could only tune to 11.5:1. any higher and i lost power and got tons o' knock.
