OK I was reading over at ga.dsm and one of the people were talking about this new(or newer) product, the ecu plus. From http://www.ecuplus.com/. I am wondering if anyone hear is using it and if anyone as compared it to the dsmlink.
It seems to be like the dsmlink, in almost every way, and the 1000 rpm fuel adjustment is said to be change with the next release. I am wondering what peoples opinions are of this product, cause it seem to be a cheaper verison of the dsmlink and been in college, cost is a factor(and I know you get what you pay for) so lets hear you opinions.
It is still a piggyback, and has all of the issues that come along with it.
In that repsect, it's no different from things like the AFC, Exde, PMS, etc.
They all work by altering ECU inputs in a manner that "hopefully" gets the desired outputs.
If you look at the "comparison" chart, it's misleading... or at least tilted towards ECU+
Sure it has similar features, but the devil is in the details.
It does logging, but doesn't log knock (as an example), but the comparison page just says "yes" for data logging.
If you want consistency in your tuning and day to day drivability... avoid any type of piggyback.

lol, yeah... i posted about this product about the time that it came out. well i got burned really bad by everyone because i came out to say"this thing looks better than dsmlink" anyways, i did plenty more research on this and the thing i cant get by on is that it is a PIGGY BACK system. it can only read/ alter the "outside" of the ecu as i have read..... anywho, i was close on purchasing the product. I am in the same situation(college student) and i have decided to wait and save my pennies for dsmlink or stand alone. If you NEED something right now, i would suggest getting a AFC and a DATA loger form ebay..... i got a data logger and put the package together for about $70 shipped. I would highley recomend the data logger.

Yea I read more and compared it to the DSMlink, and the piggy back kinda sucks.
After reading better, I notice that the dsmlink is better, just cost more. This idea looks better for someone who wants something better then the S-afc but doesnot want to get a DSMlink or a standalone, just yet.
BoostMyTsi, I have an S-afc v1 right now, just need to get a logger and tune. I think i just going to wait and get a DSMlink, but for a piggy back system it is much nicer then the S-afc.
