What are people using as far as Wideband gauges?
Are Innovative/PLX crappy?
Is DSMlink able to monitor wideband? It doesn't look like it from what I could see on their website.

V2 DSMLink I believe has provisions for it.
And I use an AEM UEGO WB V1 non-gauge type. Works like a charm.

I use the UEGO 1000 as a solo unit (super fast), same 5 wire used on the dyno jets. Also proven and somewhere I heard a write up on the unit as being very accurate which I took the time to prove myself. Think you can get them for about $500 now.
I have a friend with a PLX wideband and he says that it jumps all over the place at some times. He thinks the gausge is not accurate. He also had an AEM wideband but when he set it up with the ems the wideband wouldnt go below 14.8:1(if anyone has any idea to help get a better reading in the ems please let me know), so he thought the values were off, which is why he bought the PLX. Another guy I know has an FJO wideband and he has nothing but good things to say.

I have used basically all the widebands available, owned an FJO, Techedge, AEM(my current favorite for use with the EMS) and should recieve a Zeitronix unit within a couple of days. Basically right now I highly recommend the Zeitronix unit based on cost and display options. I ordered mine with the LCD display.
ALL widebands are fine, as long as they are calibrated correctly. I do not like the Techedge units myself, as I have found them a bit tempermental and easily "fried". The FJO and Innovate widebands are nice, but clunky and not as user friendly as the Zeitronix or AEM. I prefer the Zeitronix if you do NOT have EMS that will log the wideband signal, and the AEM if you DO have EMS.

Personally I'd recomend the AEM V2 UEGO, just because the whole controler and gauge fit in a standard gauge cup, which I kinda dig.

I didnt know you ordered one too... Thats what Im running, I like it for the most part because of the logging capabilities on the laptop.

Innovative is what I use.... uses the bosch LSU4.2 sensor
it logs as well, and has other options you can get, like analog 1v output and other inputs (rpm, egt, etc)

I use/log w/ the LM-1 as well. Good unit.. Gets expensive if you want to spice it up with the nifty features. However the upside to that is you dont have to buy it if your budget wont allow or just dont need it.

I'm a Zeitronix user as well. Nice unit. Got to ditch the gauge pod for extra sleeper look (locally they're pulling imports over for even GAUGES). And yes, you can log it with DSMLink V2.

I know this is off topic but how can you get pulled over for a gauge?

an officer can pull you over for anything, if brought to his attention and put him on the spot he could say something like your tire was low so i pulled you over, trust me they dont have a problem finding a stupid bullshit reason to JUST pull you over...

Here you get pulled over for any mods and they'll tell you straight up they pulled you over for the exhaust or whatever. They say that's probable cause to look under the hood for illegal modifications and make you pop the hood. Gauges are one of these "probable causes" that'll get your hood popped.
Anyway, let's not get this thread off topic. Sorry about that.

So what will the cops do if they figure out you have any upgrades? Give you a ticket for mods? Didn't know it was against the law but I understand there is excessive noise with some mufflers...like mine but they don't know :)

I have only heard severe cases in san diego and stuff of people HAVING to change their cars, not one of my friends has ever had to pop their hood as an order to a cop, i have heard of some cops asking to see as a friend-sorta-car-guru...
Modding your car is illegal... but hardly enforced..

Sorry to get this thread off topic. If you want to hear the fun of living in CA, I started a new thread here: http://www.rmdsm.org/forums/showthread.php?p=26021#post26021

This thread is about a year old but I am currently looking to pick up a wideband o2 sensor.
I imagine they havn't changed a whole lot since last year other than the price going down a bit but would anyone care to update on what they are using and how they are liking it?
I was looking at picking up the techedge but Hal recommended the LM-1 and I like their standalone gauge kit. Basically, I would like to have a display and will be logging it using DSMLink.
Also, I want to make sure that the sensor will actually last as I hear some are prone to failure with minimal use.
Any updates or suggestions on the products available and suggestions on where to get them for the best price?
Mike

I'm with Hal. I like the Innovate stuff. I've since removed the LM-1 and went to a LC-1 and XD-1 combo to give me exactly what you're looking for. I've not had any issues at all with any of my Innovate parts and I've got everything they offer.
You're pretty much going to pay the price you see on their site unless you find a new shop offering a discount due to a recent buy in with Innovate. I picked up my LC-1/XD-1/LMA-3 combo like this with a 20% discount.

bang for buck I like the zietronics unit, the software and display package are pretty nice
the AEM unit is top-shelf and works 100%
I had an FJO, sold it to quinn, he likes it I guess.
The innovate stuff is good, we have one here for shop use, I just dont like them in a car due to packaging and software issues- just a personal thing

LM-1 or LC-1?

How about mileage out of the sensors?
I am seeing that the NTK sensors will last a lot longer than the Bosch units.
Would anyone with the LM-1 with gauge be willing to meet up with me sometime so I can check it out?

AEM single channel Gauge type here. seems to be just as accurate as what's used at MAC's.
Easy to install as the controller is in a 2 1/16" gauge. All in one unit.
Marcus
I have an older style Tech Edge which uses an L1H1 sensor.
People say they last a long time, but my experience is the opposite.
Given how expensive they are, I'll be replacing the entire unit rather than just the sensor with something like an LM-1
My Tech Edge has worked fine since I purchased it from Hal a few years back. I'd say it has about 20k+ miles on it now. I just need it to connect to the DSM Link. But still keep my AEM 3.5bar hooked up to the EGR sensor too.
Anyone know how for the 1g? I looked at the web site but I'm a lil confused. It's reccomending only one wire to the ECU from what I recall. Has anyone done this wireup and can recommend a way in plain english, please?

Yea, use pin 16 on the ecu. It is for the barometric sensor. Dsmlink allows 4 inputs to be wired in.

Umm Erik's car is a 1g. Erik use the EGR input on the ECU for the wideband.

Um, it doesn't matter, there is still 4 inputs to be used in the ecu. I used pin 16 without issues.

The barometric pressure input can only be used if a MAFT and GM MAF are installed with DSMLink being told to ignore IAT and Baro. Thats on a 1g ECU
2g ECU's are different. On the 2g ECU you can use the MDP input for boost logging and the EGR temp for the wideband without needing a MAFT.

Correct. Erik has the GM MAF. Erik, Dave is right as well. You can use pin 15 without issues here either.
Steven
Erik,
You have a two choices.
Put both devices on a switch and use it to control which ever one gets logged via the EGR temp input
-- or --
Lock the IAT/Baro with DSMLink and then connect the WBO2 to one of those inputs. Search the DSMLink site because I recall reading about some sort of circuity needed when using one (or maybe both) of these inputs.
It is indeed a single wire.
Depending on your WBo2 model you can use either one of two lines... one signal is linear 0 - 5vdc while the other is "non linear". Either one will work, you just need to select the correct item to capture/display in the DSMLink client.

Incase other people read this thread looking for wideband options....
I just got my LM-1 Wideband back from Innovative.
A bad O2 fried something in the controller. Innovative replaced the main board and shipped it back for FREE, 3 years after I bought, which is well out of warranty.
My roommates LC-1 was damaged as well from the same o2 sensor, and they replaced and shipped his LC-1 back free of charge, and it was out of warranty as well.
Customer Service from Innovative :thumbs up::thumbs up:
