What is the reason for a GM Mass Air Conversion? Is it just a poor man's alternative to getting DSMLink or greater?

Is it similar in theory to an older modified speed density system in which if you seek only ONE set up or "tune" then you have a chip "Custom Burned" and then live with the aftermath???

what are the pros and cons?

Doing a GM MAF conversion using a translator unit allows for higher airflow with less restriction. Basically you can do a 3" or 3.5" depending on your needs.

Plus, you don't need to worry about having to create a dumptube for the BOV. Then, you can choose a REAL blowoff. No greddy or blitz crap.

It will also allow you to run an open turbo (in blowthrough) for no restriction during competition.

If you tend to blow IC pipes off, this will allow you to drive the car with no real issues if you blow an IC pipe off pre MAF.

You also dont have to hack the crap out of your maf inorder to stay away from maf overrun.

If you have any kind of upgraded turbo, you will overrun the stock 1g maf. Just watch the line graph on your afc, it will look like a heart monitor (EKG?)

Yes you can either do it with DSMLink or w/o it.

Also a few people were confused about using it with Dsmlink. You still need the translater with the MAS.

B16g + GM Maf= 12.9 1/4mile 91 eclipse gsx. Of course other mods involved nothing to big. Damn I think it's worth it. (not my time but a friends). That gm maf kicks ass like beyond air flow. Injector tuning, logging, fuel cut elim, air metered optionally before th. body instead pre-turbo so boost leaks easier to detect all tag along as part of the mod. It's a good tool for cheap but you got a 95 any way why gm maf? It's great spool up you would love it after this mod. It's dsm proven.
