Hey guys, PMI opens in roughly 4 months. I own a FWD 1g and am looking for something to help me out with my launch, I am preparing for the Quaife LSd. But I am looking at some lowering springs, my question to you guys is a two inch drop too much? also for the time being i am leaving everything else stock on the suspension, would this just hurt me instead of helping? There is a fellow in kansas selling some "sprint" lowering springs, can you guys tell me anything about these springs? For some reasone suspension is the only attribute of my car that I have never really paid much attention to, so any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Thank you, Marco

Weight transfer is what you're looking at. Try to minimalize transfer to the rear so that the front stays planted. Also, if I were you and you're extremely worried about 60' times I'd go Kaaz and not Quaife. The Kaaz locks up faster. Even though you'll have to rebuild it every 50-100k miles.

Give Mike Croutcher at DSS a call about 1g suspensions. Shep has been running their setup for years. They would have a better idea for FWD spring rates, especially for drag racing, than anyone I can think of.

Well here is the deal, I located these springs from "sprint" from a guy on trader. I talked him down to 50 bucks shipped, it's a 2" drop front and back. The springs have 500 hundred miles on them, and he claims no sag. A guy on dsmreviews gave them the thumbs up, what do you guys think. Should I get these springs, or should I get some other springs? I hate doing things twice, but this car will be for straight line racing only. Im all ears guys, thank you again, Marco

Scratch what I just posted, I have talked to a few dsm'rs running the sprint springs and I am going to go with this deal. Now my question to you folks is how long do you belive my stock struts will live with this 2" drop? Car has 112k on it.

Thank you, Marco

I have 2" drop Sprint springs on the front of my car and adj. Ground Control coil overs on the rear. It squats a little but not too much. Even with the 2" drop springs my car only dropped 1.5", I think I'm gonna order some 2.5 or 3" drop if I can find them cause I want my front end as low as possible (well almost) as do you if all you're doing is drag racing. My car even carves corners pretty damn good suprisingly. I'm still on my stock struts in the front and haven't had a problem with them leaking.

Damn, Ryan this is the fellow that picked up those seats from ya. Here is a pic from a guy off a guy from tuners. He has them on all of his dsm's, looks DAMN low. I should get them in the mail sometime next week, I will post picks as soon as I can. By the by would anyone in the springs area be able to give me a hand with the springs install? I have never done springs so some help would be greatly appreciated. Ryan, how long did that install take on your car?

Speed bumps are going to be a biaaaatch from now on.

Took me like 30 minutes at work, of course I was on a lift, had air tools and a wall mount compressor. I've done them on the ground before with a regular spring compressor and it took about an hour for both fronts.

Remember AWD's weigh more then us so they'll sit a little lower then us fwd's.

True, but that is why I am going with the sprint springs, the AWD guys claim a 2.25 drop with springs. The FWD guys claim the 2 inch drop, I dont want it too low. It is still going to be my daily for at least another month or soo. 2" will complement my factory 16" rims along with dropping me a good amount. How are your tires doing on the springs(do you need a camber kit?)

Also, Ryan does your exhaust scrape everything.I am running a 3" turbo back set up, I would hate to mess up me DP.

I dind't need a camber kit for my car, of course it only has 77k miles on it so it's just getting broke in, lol. I only had to do some toe adjustments on the machine at work to get mine back into spec, otherwise everything else lined up just fine. The reason I might have only got 1.5" drop is because my car has been Jenny Craiged a little bit, lol.

My 3" exhaust doesn't scrape anywhere, of course my whole exhaust system was made piece by piece and it's tucked up nice and tight. Any aftermarket 3" should be fine. I also have 3" drop springs on my 91GSX and a 3" turbo back and it doesn't rub at all.

Ok about running 2" drop springs as a Daily driver. You can but I would not, I am running 2" drop springs on my 95 awd and I hate it out here, they were great back in GA but the crappy roads make me scrape on different things. My exhaust(3" RSR exhaust) is now pulled up but when it was in the stock location it scrape when I would hit a small bump.

Just a heads up, so you know. I was going to switch to a 1.5 drop, but I am now going to a full coilover system.
