View Full Version : Hayame Suspension

I found out about Hayame's suspension for the 95-99 Eclipse (Talon too) and was "numerically atracted". It offered 12kg/mm up front and 8 in the rear, as well as I BELIEVE 16 points of adjust ability. 16 isn't great but its better than 5. I was hoping someone here had a pair (once before/ now) or a friend was sporting a pair. They look like a fair set of coil-overs for a very decent price, 799.
And being able to have a 0" to 4" ride height adjust ability is just what I was looking for. I feel that my car is already low enough for everyday driving.
So, in closing, if you have a opinion or a rough feel for them I'd love to know, or even if you have a decent set you'd like to sell...
Thanks.

I have found another retailer that is pricing them at $650. Why is it that noone is wearing these? The length of the strut is what is adjustable, so that even lowered you still have the full suspension travel.
Here's the latest question that will go unawnsered, which is better for street setup that wants very little to be regretted at road courses, and has a high tolerance for daily driving. 12kg/8kg or 9kg/6kg?
12 seems a little high but I rarely talk to people that have already done their suspension. so I am understandable unsure. 550lbs/in equate to roughly a 9.8/mm correct? So that leads me to beleive that the 9kg are not quite enough.
Please, everyone with GSX's or TSi's, let me know what spring rates you have come in contact with and you feelings. If you rode in a 12/8kg set up (or anthing close) and felt like it was skidding across the road as opposed to grabbing it, I'd love to hear from you. Sh!t even if you post
450/330-suck
I'd still be appreciative.

Not sure if this is the answer your looking for, but anyhow, I run tokico 5 ways with skunk2 coils. I feel that the springs are a little too stiff. My car bounces too much. So whatever the spring rates are, I think they are too stiff. (CNC-wound SAE 9254 racing springs)??....what ever that means.
I have groud controls in the garage that I plan to install, since most avg. racers go this route, I figured I'd try them out.

I run Koni/GCs. 550fr/450rr springs. They are fine on the street when I set the dampers to the softest settings. As far as racing, I don't think they are enough and plan on swapping them out as soon as I can.

Are the 450s in the rear sufficent? I did the math and the 12kg is equivalent to a 670lbs spring (if there is such a thing), and that seems (based off your highly apreciated input) would be the most optimal spring rate to choose. However the highest I have seen the rear available for was 8kg, which is only similar to a 450lbs. So again is the rear softer than you would prefer, and if so do you feel as if a high rate will improve grip without being overly stiff?

Since the weight distribution in our cars are about 60f/40r you want to have the spring rates close to that ratio. This summer Im gonna be trying 550/350s to see how that works out.
Although, I personally think 550's are annoyingly stiff in a daily driver. For winter I run 450/350 and its tolerable, but it is nice to get in a softer car.

It's personal preference.
I don't daily drive my GSX anymore. When I did the best thing I did as far as making it feel "streetable" was ditching the leather seats for the stock cloth ones. They not only sit lower, but there is no motor for your ass to pound on.
When I ran at SC, the car didn't quite feel right. First the tires were horrible. I don't recommend Khumos for road racing. So the front dive in and the tires would push. Toe and camber can help over come this. Once the front end would regain some grip the car would go neutral and I could bring the rear end around.
450s are fine on the rear. I have nothing in my car from the front seats back. Nothing.
I could use some more weight reduction up front, better tires and more tuning of the suspension.
It's just my opinion that 550s aren't quite enough to race on.
On the street where speeds are slower the car feels very responsive and with the suspension that stiff, I can feel every bump. Either in the steering wheel or in my back.
I would not suggest anything over a 500lb spring for a car you intend to drive a lot. I hope that helps.
