I just found this site a while ago but havent gotten around to posting, but I might be on it more often since I'm kinda ehem... carless lol. So, uh... like the thread says, I blew a push rod not so good :( I was wondering since you guys are here in the Co Springs area if you knew a place where I could get a new engine for my eclipse, its a 2g rs 420a engine. If anyone knows anywhere I could take it to and get it done, with as less cost as possible. Any help is appreciated thanks in advance cya.

Heres another great site for all the info you need on your RS... www.2gnt.com. Most of the people here are 4g63 guys and probably wont be much help to you. They can give you advice, but not many here are knowledgable in the 420a...
By the way, how did you throw the rod in the first place?

When I had my old red na talon I was looking for a new motor... they are cheap and can be found everywhere to be honest... You're looking for a chrysler 420a dohc.... make sure you don't get shafted into buying a sohc out of a neon or something cause they are the same engine code. Check junk yards honestly... or if you're bored and wanna spend some money... go to www.vfaq.com and figure out how to fit in a 4g63

lol Dont tell him that. Its way too expensive and impractical to swap a 420a for a 4g. The entire car has to be practically rewired and new motor mounts fabed up. They are way too different and not work doing it.

To be honest I don't know how I threw the rod. There were probs with the car and smoking because the people we bought it from had the engine rebuilt and chrome piston rings were put in and they werent seating properly. So I took it to them, and I guess they took it apart, not completely but enough to see what was going on with it. I picked it up drove off and like the next day I heard a knocking sound coming from inside my engine and I called them and told them about thise and they were like well bring it back and we will see whats going on. I was on 85/87 and boom boom lots of smoke lol. They said they would back us 1500 of the money for the new engine so I guess thats good. But still I got shafted :(

I guess the Positive of it all is that you get a new engine :D .But the downfall is that it is hard to trust someone elses word and workmanship.Best of luck getting it finished.

Totally agreed with the trusting people. Some guy I bought my eclipse from told me it would pass emissions and it didn't. Took awhile to figure out what was wrong too.

So uh, does anyone know of any place around the springs that I could take my care to and they will make it go vroom vroom again? (lol) so far the cheapest I've found 2500 for a new engine I believe it was and that comes with a 3 year or 50k warrenty. This also includes the installation of the engine, but does not include the core refund. Maybe there is somewhere else I should check, besides the junk yards. I mostly only go to AA off of 85/87 but most of the rs or gs's they get have engine probs themselves, and that is when they get them in which is rare I guess. So any ideas?

There is a full 420a motor out of a 97 Talon at the Commerce city junkyard, call them up and ask what they want for it.
