A while ago I saw a guy with a fast-ass red (sortof) DSM. He had different color fenders and hood. Does anyone know who this was?

Where'd you see the car at?

Sounds like it could have been Mike Baker.

Sounds like the Crayola Crayan to me (my old car) aka "Mike Baker" that car hauls asss on the track, it wieghs less then 2700lbs and is sporting custom Valved JIC2 Coilovers.

Is this the first gen with a cage? Tall skinny guy?

Crayola Crayon sounds familiar...
It was definitely a very light car, I don't think it could have been more gutted.
I saw it at 2nd Creek last December during the free week.
It is a first gen, and the name also sounds familiar. One thing I noticed that I haven't seen around here was that it had a COP setup. I keep crossing my fingers for a Chrysler 300m to show up at the junkyard.

It was Mike, Erron S. can fill you in on the details of the car, he did a lot of work on that thing.

What do you want to know about Mike Bakers car? He was at my house last night talking shit to me to get me ready for the Import Nationals. I think he was one of the original COP owners. I remember when he first got it and payed $550.00 .

When I asked him if he was part of any of the local organizations he didn't really give me a straight answer. Not that it really matters I was just curious.
I had a few questions when I saw the car, but it's been so long I'd have to see it again. I've never been seriously into racing (never enough money to care), so I don't want to pretend like I know what I'm talking about, but I remember being really impressed with the way the car performed. It was also nice to see something that didn't just have the standard mods. Does he go anywhere else besides Second Creek? Also, how often is he there? I'd also like to thank him for letting borrow a helmet to putter around in a PT Cruiser.
The only Import Nationals I'm familiar with are in PA, and last I heard they weren't going to have them anymore. I'm assuming this is something different, any chance you have a link?

The Import Nationals you haven't heard about them. They are June 11th. and 12th. www.nhrasportcompact.com
Mike Baker only does SC. His car is down right now, but I will thank him for you as he probably won't remember. He did go to Bandi once and ran a 13.8 on 14PSI in his car. No he is not on any Boards, he does not have the Internet, and is mostly lazy about searching for things anyway.

What do you mean by "custom valved?" I have JIC FLTA2 coilovers as well custom tuned by Mueller but I haven't heard that term.
And excuse my ignorance but what is a COP setup?

COP = Coil on plug

If I'm not mistaken he's talking about the valve between the two chambers that determines how stiff the dampening is on the shock.
Think of the AGX's (or any adjustable shock), when you turn the knob, you're changing the diameter of the valve's opening.
Also, I'm curious if the valves are just super stiff or if he actually had them designed specifically for his car?
What do you mean by "custom valved?"

Mueller (at Road Race Chassis) at least, tunes them specifically for our cars. At least if you have him tune it. So I guess mine is "custom-valved" too...

I'm not trying to jack the thread or anything, but I was looking at this site, and it said, for off-road use only. I was wondering if this made it so as not to pass emissions or what's the reason it's for "off-road only"?

I passed emissionx with my COP.

A lot of the "for off road use only" products will still allow your car to pass emissions. They just either have not been approved for "on road use" or in the case of some exhausts are too "noisy", etc.
Removing cats is supposedly a no-no, but think of all the other crap we do every day that releases harmful elements into the atmosphere... using excessive electricity (all of which is primarily fueled by coal burning plants), filling our gastanks past the pressure release, throwing all sorts of things away that could be recycled or reused, etc. I'm not going on an environmentalist tirade here, simply trying to make a point, so nobody take this the wrong way.
I've heard of all sorts of people having various aftermarket components on their cars and still passing just fine. I'm sure several people will chime in (as above) and say that they passed just fine, whether it's ignition related, exhaust related, etc.
If you're in California, however, that's another story. But here in Colorado, you can get away with quite a bit.

Like my carbon fiber hood, for example =).

They were set up for a lighter weight car. The process happens at JIC during manufacturing. They remove the 1.1mm valve and put in a .9mm valve body. (or something close to that). If you are curious to find out if your's were done, put them on a shock dyno and see what the bound/rebound ratio is.
aka-Mike Baker the instagator! Yeah, it's a little quick. Somewhere in here there are pics from when we did the cage.

I'm wondering why I couldn't find that thread when I was looking for it.
I was wanting to see how you built this cage in comparison to what I have to install.
