Hey there. Looking to get a 3" dp that can bolt up to the stock catback.......
Would like to replace stock catback with something very quiet and not as conspicuous as Apexi N1, etc. Any ideas?

That's not a very good idea.
First, there are no aftermarket 3" DPs that fit to the stock cat.
Second, the entire exhuast is a restriction, not just the DP. You would actually gain more from a cat-back then a DP alone.
For what your looking for, any exhaust shop could build a 2.5" turbo-back for around $500. Twin tip, very stock looking.

Do you think i should go 3" or 2.5". I think i might want to go 3" in case i go bigger turbo in the future.

If you're almost positive you're going to go with a bigger turbo, then go ahead and do the 3" exhaust. If you're not going to go any bigger than maybe an EvoIII 16g, then you dont need any more than the 2.5".

nice. are those $100 stainless steel downpipes i see on ebay okay? They look identical to everything else.
What catback is pretty damn quiet and a decent $
Thanks again.

Quietest I know of is the RS*R exhaust. Anyone that's been near my car can attest how quite it is for a 3" turbo back, no cat.

I don't know about the ebay specials, if you want an inexpensive downpipe that is good, look at meganracing.com. Their downpipes are $169. Other than that I would go with road race engineering. That is what I have on mine.

Who sells the RSR..........what does it usually go for? Intake pipe worth the money or no?
Who sells upper and lower I/C pipes?

Road Race Engineering, Road Race Engineering, Road Race Engineering, Road Race Engineering. Enough said.
I don't know who carries RS*R. They left America back in the late 90s. I got lucky and snagged one for $300, turbo-back, years and years ago. Try google.

I hear you brother, Road Race is a no brainer, but you know how it is. There are alot of cheapies out there that will settle for a inferior product in order to pinch a couple of pennies. They usually regret it anyway.

Eddy, Confusionisbad, has the rsr exhaust... it sounds really good and it's really clean and clear not too raspy or anything under wot...
I have the n1 downpipe with the dunk catback.. it's nice and loud and honda but anything(for the most part) will sound good as long as it isn't some bs pieced together made at an exhaust shop with leaks and such..
Rsr is really good stuff though.. I'd go that route if you're looking for performance and a "sleeper" look and not such a ricey sound.

Yea, thats all im looking for. I will gladly pay for quality every step of the time, but i don't wanna dump $400-$500 on a cat back that has a huge tube on it.
I know you'll hate on me for saying it, but let's face it, the 4G63 is balls fast.......NOT the sweetest sounding note in all the car kingdom however. The straight 6 wail of a Supra, Skyline, M3.....etc......well, that merits more useage for sound to me.
And all I want really is a good deal so i have value out of it....not some upmarked overpriced setup.
Thanks for your help.

Here is my opinion. I have sent 4 cars to the exhuast shop. 3 run mufflers of their choice. All came out really really good. Sound just like they are suppose to and great.
One car runs a straight pipe with no muffler. Sounds crazier than any street dsm I have ever heard. Sounds phenominal in my opinion. He got the whole turbo back done for $240. This was at Lakewood Muffler. They also built it so he can swap his cat in and out if he ever needs to. He lives in Elbert county and doesn't have emmisions. He will soon though.
Call Lakewood Muffler and see what they can do. Great work in my opinion. Can't beat the price. Plus you get exactly what you want and can watch them build it.

Thanks. Do they use aluminized piping or stainless? I would pay extra for stainless if they can do it.

Aluminized. They might be able to get stainless. Its all just metal to me. Just give them a call.

Andy's car is quite loud, that's for sure, and the dump tube makes it even more so, along with the rumpity-rump of the cams.
I kid you not, my wife actually told me that if my car is ever that loud, she will be donning a pair of earmuffs to wear while riding around in the car.
I guess I know what I'll be getting her for one of her Christmas presents! ;)

Found a used RSR catback for a great price ( i think). Looks like i'll be going that route? With a Megan 3" DP, will that eliminate all cats? Or does the megan just go to the cat and i'd have to do a test pipe?

Have you considered going to a local muffler shop and having them weld up an exhaust for you and using a Magnaflow muffler; those are pretty quiet. good luck.

I have a magnaflow muffler on my '92 AWD, and if that's considered quiet, I'd really hate to hear what loud is. It's a beast.
