I have heard through the grape vine that second creek has closed? Any truth behind the rumor and if so where the heck are we going to road race now?

Thats not a rumor, they are closed for ever.

There is a track in Pueblo, something out east in La Junta, a track in Utah and I think one in Kansas.

Ah, here we go

If you able to vote, we need to push through the track plans in Aurora that keeps getting defeated on the ballots. I heard that they were trying to build an entire motorsports park out east, and some hippies are keeping it from opening.

I was also looking on AMA's website and the event isn't coming to PPIR this year. Did they shut that track down as well?

PPIR has been closed since late October IIRC.

They sold it with the stipulation that a race track can no longer be built or used at that location. One less track available for Coloradans.

I wouldn't support PPIR anyway, even if they were still open.

They were the driving force behind getting the vote for the motorsport park in Aurora defeated a few years ago.

I understand why they did it, but I still refused to contribute to their cause.

there are at least two more tracks being built locally- both by the Centrix Financial guy- one is going to be a professional level motorsports park- he is hoping to bring in CART/INDY and other series for that, and the other track he is building is more of a club track, and no one knows exactly who is going to be able to use it.

Just FYI- we are having a track day at Pueblo in the very near future for customers/invited guests. If your interested, let us know. The track day will rotate between drag racing done street race-style with a flagger, no times, for about an hour, then a session of course work for about 30-45 minutes, then rotate again. Costs per person is looking to be about 60-80 bucks per car.

Ah the question of questions....

Kind of a bummer, losing 3 tracks in 4 days. Yes, 2nd Creek is gone forever. There are other forces at work on a new track, like our good friend Mr. Sutton (the owner of Centrix Financial) that is putting together a track. For the most recent updates, goto www.camplaps.org

As far as what is local, there's Woody Creek in Aspen, La Junta, Pueblo Motorsports, Arryo Secca in NM, Heartland park in Topeka, and the best of, the brand new Miller Motorsports park near Salt Lake.

Let's all hope that CAMA can help us out. I've never road raced before, my last car was set up to only run at the drag strip, but my new car I want to set up for both types of driving. Just sad that I never got the chance to get my car on a road course before SCR closed down.

Just go to PMI. It's bigger than SCR too. If you're wanting to get into road racing, you'll have to do the school there anyway. There's always autocross...

Ah yes, the best of both worlds. Good luck.

I've got to check at work to see if I can get time off for the upcoming track day, hopefully it shoud not be a huge deal to get done. Never road raced before but I've always wanted to get into it. Hope to see you there!!! Just Pueblo is so far away, that drive is going to kill me!!!
