Two blown tires within 5 days; I hate our highways.

One happened at the Flatirons mall exit on 36 and the other happened right before the exit to pull-n-save. I was lucky the 2nd time, for I don't carry a jack or a spare and just happened to have all my tools and a full spare since I just popped a tire 4 days previously.

There is the HUGEST damn pothole on 270 or whatever the junction is when 36 splits into I25 and this highway. Literally 8 inches deep and 2 feet long. Bent my rim and popped a bulge in the tire.

All I have to say is thank you Discount tires! I bought a cheezy set of Barum Bravaris 215/45/17 and I think at least 5 tires have been replaced since I bought the set. For only $15 per tire you get a 40,000 mile user failure warranty that replaces the tire free of charge if it is damaged. THe only cost I have experienced on 5 free tires is the $15 warranty on the free tire.

I just wanted to share my frustration with our crappy highways; it seems like I can barely get around outside of Boulder without abusing the DSM...

uhm... maybe you should look out for potholes and avoid them? Just a thought.

Not to be an ass, but no shit. I had an Excursion on the left and a semi on the right. I would have avoided it if I could have. The thing was fucking huge...both front wheels would fit into it.

uhm...most people don't hit potholes on purpose.

Just thought I'd let you all know about it. Right lane, pinoa or whatever it is called headed east.

The first pop was from a piece of metal which is also quite hard to avoid at 70 mph.

I was being facetious. I didn't mean to make you bristle.

After driving to Ohio last summer, I will never complain about Colorado roads again.

Illinois and Iowa roads are FAR worse.

I've already bent a few rims here in Colorado, but not comparing to how many I would have bent if I were driving the Talon through those states.

Just drive faster!

I thought it was just Colorado roads being so bad due to the constant temperature changes, but in reality, it's everywhere. Any well-used stretch of road is going to be crappy and there's nothing we can do about it. If enough people complain about the roads for long enough, we will soon have to complain about how much traffic there is now that they're being "repaired".

I say "repaired" because to fix a pothole around here, doesn't it just seem like the crew comes along and closes five miles of lane just to dump two shovels full of asphalt in it?

It doesnt seem like they do that..... that is what they do.

Dump in asphalt, run it over with the truck a few times.

Then next time it snows, bam pothole is back. Imagine that, the water you left in the bottom of the hole froze and broke up the asphalt.
