I need to replace the clutch in my gsx, I have a centerforce dual friction 2600 and its heavy and somewhat surpasesses my performance needs, is it wise to go down to a 2100 or should i stay at 2600? I have an evo III big 16g and can make a max of 365awhp so will a 2100 stand up to that? Keep in mind that i never drag race and wont be doing any drop clutch launches or anything like that. Thanks again for your time, everybody here has been extremely helpful.

well, if there is no racing in your future, there is no need for the 2600 in my opinion. If you do plan on doing even minimal racing, get the 2600..

I've had both the 2100 and the 2600. I will never go back to the 2100. It worked well and had good pedal feel, but the 2600 is so much more crisp and has instant connection to the wheels when shifting gears.

FYI- I'm making similar power to you. The 2100 would slip slightly in between shifts and I had significant clutch smell after each run at Bandimere.

So then, the problem here willl be slip, which i expected, is there a pressure plate and clutch assembly that falls in between 2100 and 2600 that would work well, or should i just go with the 2600? How much slip and where will i encounter it? It seems i may just stick with the 2600.

I guess the only racing i do is between second and 4th gears, more just hard acceleration on the highway, no powershifting just let the synchros do the work. Absolutely no drag racing period. Would i still be okay with the 2100? Sorry, i ask alot of questions, i know just enough to be dangerous
:D
Thanks again for your time everybody.

I'd go with the 2600 hundred. I love my 2600 outside of the swollen left calf. Lol.

I guess people do changed there minds in the future. So in case you do ever decide to drag race or feel the need to no a 6k clutch drop you'd have it there.

Do it once. Do it right. Just my opinion.

What mods do you have on the car? If you plan on doing a few sprints on the road and you have mods that would exceed a 2100 then it would be a good idea to put a 2600 in the car or a clutch that supports what you have done. Putting a clutch in that is not suited for your power, torque and driving style is a bad idea.

I drive with some 'spirit' occasionally. Its a 1g 6bolt with an intake, evoIII headers, cyclone intake manifold, an evo III big 16g, evo III injectors, Apexi safcII, a 3" exhaust, supra fuel pump, 4 bolt, ect ect...

Get the 2600/street disk combo. You'll never look back and will love this clutch.

Mine being half worn out still took me to low 11's, high 10's.

It has a heavier pedal, but I personally love it. I feel that I can modulate it better than a light clutch.

I have been really happy with my 2600 and a 6 puck. I know that people say that it is a little harsh but I think it is fine. It just takes a little while to get used to the harsh engagement.

My talon has 280 hp at the wheels and a big 16g for what that is worth...
