View Full Version : Should we have another Horsepower Competition

I figured before I schedule the next one I should get some input from everyone. Since the last one we hosted had a very small turnout and a high count of people that said they were going to run I have decided to ask everyone what they would like. We have a few options we could do. Cast your vote on what you would like to see.

The stuff below would be great, but I would love to have a tuning day.

Lets make the rules looser for everyone. Allow more 3SI's, CSM's, and even a few guys who may know some guys with other impressive cars just to get the troops riled up a bit. Let's do one for sure.

Robert and I would like to make it. We have some new stuff coming in the next few weeks. I hope these will be our keys to success and uber amounts of power.

I don't want to shy guys away from running. Everyone run what you brung. Just let everyone know they can run, will have fun and won't get scrutinzed.

I got a question if we did a tuning day how will that work?? I would love to see another one whether it be a shootout or tuning day... I like the idea of tuning day i would of liked to do some mild (simple) tuning on the 9sr dyno day and take some feul out but was'nt able to...

If this is toward the end of September, I would LOVE to do it!!!

I will have the full stroker up and running by then with plenty of miles..

I say let's do it! I'll be there!

I already know what my car puts down, so I wouldnt be running my car.

My vote is in. Regardless of what happens, we need to have another dyno day of any sort.

I WILL be there as long as I don't blow the thing up hardcore in the little racing I'll be doing this season.

I think we should definitely have another one towards the end of the season in september or October. Either at MAC or 9SR, but I want to be the one behind the wheel, if we have to let one of the shop owners/workers drive then I won't dyno.

Hasn't that always been the way they're conducted? I believe it's been an option to have someone else run the car, not a requirement.

Could we do some sort of tuning/HP Competition all at once? That might convolute things a bit, but I bet it would get a broader audience there, along with more participants.

YES, but that's not the way it was done at 9SR last weekend.

The 9SR event was not a "horsepower competition". The way it was labeled on their website was "first annual official DSM horsepower competition". RMDSM has sponsored/run four DSM Horsepower Competitions.

When we host an event the driver will be allowed to drive the car. The only time the driver is not allowed to drive the car is if we find something that is not safe. Such as a dump tube that is pointing exhaust right on the straps. This will cause the strap to melt and snap during a pull. A

Also whatever event everyone decides on will be hosted at MAC Autosport since this is a central location for everyone to drive to.

This is exactly how it has been and will be with each individuals car.

I will NOT let anyone drive mine on the dyno or otherwise.

I also will not put my car on 9SR's dyno until they get the tie-down arrangement a little more secure.

MAC has been and probably will always be the home or the RMDSM dyno days.

Yup.....let's do it! So far it's the only time the car has stayed together this year when it's on the dyno.

YES, but that's not the way it was done at 9SR last weekend.

Actually the over 600 hp cars were asked to drive their own cars.

BTW, where did you go? I saw you for like 4 minutes?

I think it would be really helpful to have a combo day. I would volunteer use of my Craig Moates Ostrich for all of those with eprom ecu's!

We can figure out what we want to do based on interest. If we do have a tuning day I will probably offer my services to any who would like them for the day.

The problem last year was all the cars everyone came to see ran 1st. what is the point in stickin around to watch the 200 hp cars? I liked it when Marcus and Scott etc.. ran last, so that made everyone stick around till the end. ALso, i have always wanted to enter, but have never had a car running around that time of the event.

DlandryTSI

Last year we had two events. Which one are you referring to?

I'm mainly concerned with the fact I booked the entire day and 5-7 people ran.

Well, why I would not enter an RMDSM hp competition... Why pay to dyno when everyone knows who has the highest hp? Why would I pay to dyno my 250hp car at this event instead of saving my money for tunning time, when I know Marcus, Scott, Hal, and you are going to dyno in the near million hp range? I guess I don't think of it as much of a "competition" if everyone knows the top three?

DlandryTSI

Its broken up into classes to make it fair. Go back and re-read this link.

Meh. Still wouldn't go. I'd rather pay to get some tunning time.

BUT, I hope everyone has a SUPER time.

Just so anne doesn't get everyone confused. We have not decided on what type of event to do yet.

It *is* tuning time. You still get to make pulls and view the wideband data.

sbiggi

I changed my mind, I would probably do a baseline. I dont require any tuning time.

What? No N/T rules?

Youse guys aren't prejudice are you? :D

According to those rules, I'm in Marcus', Scott's and Hal's category...

Should be fun running with the big boys and having half the horsepower!!

I can't wait, give me a date and time, I'll be there!!!

You got to love winning the large turbo class multiple times and never getting metioned as being in the class :)

Who are you? ;)

I'd do it just because its cheaper then a normal baseline.
Since I've dynod all my other runs there, I need to go back to compare to my previous pulls.

Dave, you didnt mention any ballpark dates.

It looks like the end of September that we will do some sort of event.

End of September would be best when the drag season pretty much ends.

Get all of the races out of the way then have the fun.

The black one or the silver one? :)

--Dave

The silver one, If everything goes well and AEM comes through I should have an ECU for the black one. If that happens it is getting a Agency Power GT30R Ball Bearing kit also.

*Edit* How come my post count has never changed? It has been stuck @ 14 for like two months and I have wanted to respond in the for sale forums several times but I know it takes like 50 or so posts, am I right?

Because you are in Chat topics. Needs to be in the tech topics to raise post count.
