ok, I have a 3" turbo back,- no cat, no resonator, very illegal. well- I have the evo3 o2 housing ( ported- if it matters), however. I am asking what to do for emissions.
several have told me different opinions.
1-( what I am leaning toward)- is to buy a complete- stock 2g AWD exhaust.
-however, I am not sure if it bolt onto the evo3 o2 housing.
2-appropriatly cut the exhaust, and weld in a high flow cat.

I would be looking at around the same price for both options but what would be prefered or work best?
thanks you guys-

In my opinion, I would cut the exhaust and create two flanges so that you can switch out a regular cat with a test pipe...

will that pass emissions?

so "bolt" in a stock cat. and not use the high flow cat?
and weld flanges onto the peice we cut out- to replace after test?

High flow cat will do just fine for emmisions. Buy one and 4 flanges so you can make a test pipe at the same time.

Make sure your fuel trims are all close to 100%, if they are not then you need to do some tuning.
With the fuel trims all close to 100% and a cat, you should pass easily.

If you get the parts, we can weld up flanges and whatnot for you and get the cat and test pipe made.

you say - " you can weld it up for me?"- does that mean that I could just meet up with you and we can work on my exhaust?

My brother and roommate can both weld, and we have a migwelder at our house in Castle Rock.

Slip joint and weld it. It the only way to do a exhaust properly.

Butt welds are weak.

If you go this route I would recommend getting 6 flanges.
(2) for the exhaust
(4) for the test pipe and cat,(2 for each)

Otherwise you have to figure out how to bolt them all up :D

Doh! 6 flanges is correct.

ok, well I am upgrading to 3" DP anyway, so would it be best to just go to an exhaust shop, have them make a 3" DP- that goes straight to the cat-back, and then cut out the last portion (the exact length of the cat)
and weld flanges on on every end ( 6 flanges)- this will pass emissions?

Yup, that would be the ideal thing to do.
