I need to know if the 2.4 in a 97 Spyder is known for bent valves. I was driving a buddies car last night and the timing belt broke. When it died I tried to start it and I never heard any of the noises I heard when I bent the valves in my 2.0. So any help here would be great.

Alright, after replacing the timing belt (all is correct, timing and such) the car wont start. We did a compresion test and it was all ok. Now we are not getting spark. Is there somthing I am missing here. I have been over everthing but there still is no spark. Any help here would be great.

How did you check for spark?
Place the plugs in the plug wire boots and place them on the valve cover.

I did the usual (old school) test of running the wire and plug to the exhaust mani. Has worked correctly for me in the past.

I have another question concerning this issue. I found out that the reason for no spark is the ecu. I dont know how the timing belt ruined the ecu but it did. Is the turbo ecu the same or the n/t the same. I am having trouble finding a 2.4 ecu and if either of these are the same that would be great.
Thanks

Stop and think about your question. Turbo's use a completely different timing and fuel map, even if they were plug compatible (some are) it wouldn't even come close to running right.

Ya I did think about that. I was just hoping some chance in a blue moon it might work. What about from the 420a or a newer galant with a 2.4 are either of those the same. Like I said a cant seem to dig up one from a 2.4 spyder.

The 420A is completely different, it's a HO 2.0 liter neon engine, and the ECU is located in the engine compartment. The Galant 2.4l is a 4G64 and *might* work. Find a galant that is 95 or newer and try it out.
