Upon deceleration in any gear above 3000RPM, there is a terrible metal on metal chattering noise coming from the front of the car.

It is 3000miles after an XTD 2200pp and six puck disk as well as an XACT chromoly flywheel. I did not check the step or machine the flywheel because I assumed that it was .610+/- .002 because that is what their clutches call for. The clutch does not engage any differently after the noise began.

Could it be the light flywheel? I just drained and replaced the tranny and transfer case gear oil and still the noise continues.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I am looking to hopefully solve the problem without dropping the transfer case and taking a look at the clutch assembly, but I will if it comes down to it.

Thanks guys,
-Kelton

It's hard to say without hearing it, but I have seen a few rigid and sprung hub 6-puck disks wear real bad causing some pretty nasty noises before they break completely. The rigid hub units are breaking the splines and the rivets, (yeah, the rivet deal seems to happen to the cheaper ACT race disk 'clones' out there) and the sprung units are tearing the rivots from the sprung hub.
