View Full Version : Odd vibration after spring/strut installation

So one of the shocks were blown. I installed the Tokico HP strut/spring combo I picked up off ebay. Now the ride is fine, it did drop it a little more than the 1.5 inches that are advertised, but it still looks and handles well with one exception. When I accelerate really hard, there's a pretty bad vibration from the front end that I can feel through the steering wheel. As soon as I back off the throttle tho, it goes away. I had the car aligned and there was a little bit of toe in on the driver rear tire and some toe out on both front tires, but the guy said that wasn't bad and bout normal for dropping the car. Any ideas what could be causing the vibration?? It wasn't there till I did the suspension swap.

Hmmm, is the vibration dependent on the speed of the vehicle? It sounds like a CV is binding up to me. I installed a brand new NAPA reman, only to find out that when cornered really hard, it made some horrible vibrations. I think this because now the cv is positioned different from the lowering springs.

Not really. The vibration goes away as soon as I back off the throttle so I'm not accelerating. It's fairly consistant at any speed, as soon as I try to accelerate hard the vibration comes on.

I would look at the CV's. Since you're lower now, they are possitioned differently then they were before. Usually lowering a car actually moves the spindle closer to the bearing races, which if they are rubbing, you'll get good vibrations.

I'd bet they need to be replaced, but i would look at the freebie stuff first. Like are pushed into the tranny all the way, stuff like that.
