Nothing has been posted about the Springs here in awhile, so I thought I'd pop this in here to keep it new:

Well, 2 weeks ago a kid from Denver in a black turbo Acura Integra stopped by GW here in the Springs and was talking crap that everyone in the Springs is slow and he will race anyone for $2500.00. A friend called and told me about it, so I got $2500.00 cash and went down to race him. With the $2500.00 IN MY HAND I told him I was ready to go for the cash. He suddenly says his car is giving him trouble and he will only race for titles. Uh, I don't want that POS, I want the cash. Especially since it's probably owned by his Mommy anyway. He kept coming up with excuses and finally drove off. He was bouncing off the 2 step while backing up and leaving. He also floored it out of the parking lot thinking he was cool. Nice $600 ebay turbo kit BTW. I hate it when little punk kids waste my time for nothing!

TONIGHT, oh yeah! Got him! The Denver Honda kid came back out tonight and was talking crap again. This time my brother was there with his car, I just had the daily driver, so my brother tried to get him to go for money. We tried to get him for the $2500, but all the kid had on him was $1xx.00, so we were only able to squeeze him for a $100 run. They lined up and it wasn't even close. My brothers GVR4 launched perfectly. I think the kid wasn't half way down the road by the time my brother was at the end, lol! Props to the little bro for getting it done!! His car scared me a little, lol. It definitely took off pretty quick. The nightmare of my brothers car being faster than mine came true again a few weeks ago, so now I have to try to make something faster out of my car to keep up with him. His car is A LOT faster than mine, and I ran an 11.2@135MPH, so the race was pretty funny to watch against the cool big turbo Honda, lol. My brother left 4 tire marks on the street from when he was spinning in 2nd, and you could tell he was having problems keeping the car straight in 3rd. The large group of people that was with us was shocked over how fast a dorky GVR4 was. So many DSMs in the Springs are so darn slow that I guess seeing an AWD work a, um, '11 second' Honda was unheard of. I will also have to give a little props to the Honda kid. He didn't go for the $2500, but at least he had the balls to go for something even though it was just $100. He was a good sport about it, but we saw his buddy put a gun in his jacket, so we grabbed the money and got out of the way.

Note: this was all done on an empty road out in the middle of nowhere, so nobody was in danger but the idiots driving.

C'mon, you should have sandbagged a scosche, and lost the $100,...by a length or two...(maybe leave hard and then let him pull on you in second.. :p )

He probably would have gone to the bank/atm, then you could have spankerfied him for all the money.

And taught him a valuable lesson about playing with the big boys. :D

Nice job!

There is one of those guys to the "t" living down the street from me....and his Integra is "fully-built"...(and smokes going down the street)

This integra is supposed to be a "DSM Killer"....my roommate took on look at me, then my car, then laughed when he told us that.

Cool! If he's really that stupid see how much he would be willing to race a DSM for. If it's enough money my brother and I will make the trip up there. We are always up for getting free E85 :)

I like John's idea, but the friend w/the gun might have been more willing to bring it out if $2500 was at stake.

You bought a red Corba, right? That's a nice car! Heard you are doing some work to it this winter :)

Yeah, racing for a lot of money always ends poorly. I can't blame the guys friend for grabbing his gun though. There were 6 of them but 20+ of us, so he may have just grabbed it to protect himself just incase he felt he was in danger.
He wasn't though, I am a man of my word on money races and if you win, you will not only get my money, but props as well. We had a neutral party hold the money while the race went on to be sure the winner got his cash.

Yeah, I am really trying to decide how I want to go about boosting it. More than likely I will work on the suspension and a healthier nitrous shot over the summer and worry about boost next year. Looking to get this car into the lower 12's this coming season, but we will see what happens.

Hopefully I can bring you another DSM to work on sooner than later as well!

Some of the turbo Ford guys I have been talking to on the street appear to have turbo or SC setups that were pretty cheap. They seem to always know of people that have a 'kit' for sale real cheap, or know of ways of making their own parts. If you see a Jim, Brian, or the guy you bought that Cobra from, they might be able to help you. I think on your engine, they are known to have cooling problems on the sides of the heads closest to the firewall. Before you add any more power to it, you may want to do the 'cooling system mod' to fix that first.

Oh, there is a guy driving around in a SC yellow Cobra you may want to track down too. He drives around a lot on Academy after 1AM Fri-Sat I think...

With about 100lbs of stickers? If so, don't talk to him, very sarcastic and stuck on himself with his 500hp (I think he actually claims like 486rwhp) 13 sec Cobra......hahahahhaha

I don't remember seeing stickers on the yellow SC Cobra I ran into. He was really nice to me, but that could have been because I handed him his ass, lol!

2 Reasons it wasn't him. 1. you couldn't have missed all the stickers, there are more on that yellow cobra then I have seen on any other car. 2. even after you had his his azz, he is still cocky!

LOL
Anyway, good job to you and your bro!

I haven't seen his car in about a week or so, used to see it all the time in the same parking lot as me at work. I have talked to him once at PMI, then actually seen him again coming out of his car a couple weeks ago.
From what I have seen (personally on the road, he tried me in the Z) and have heard, all you have to do is see him, and he will do the rest of the instigating, doesn't matter what you have, he's faster, just ask him! And if you are faster, you just wasted your money and went the wrong way about doing it. He could have done it much better and cheaper!!! Like his $3,000, 700hp crate engine he could get and just drop in and bolt up and be done. OH, and if you ask why hasn't he done that then (or anyone else for that fact) if it's that easy, he'll just say he didn't want too.
