I am having a hell of a time getting my transfercase off my tranny. It will move in and out and 1/8th of an inch on the shaft but then it is stuck... PB blast hasn't helped a bit and the prybar dosen't help either.

Or are there any ideas on how to get to the little 12mm bolt on the back of the block so I can take both the tranny and transfer case out together.

I am getting a little frustrated here!!!

Thanks
Aaron

I spent my day yesterday doing this too! The deadblow beater is your friend...

I always have to use a pry bar.

Do you pry with a prybar and then pound it back on with the deadblow?

I have been using the 2' prybar and it's not moving more than the 1/8 - 1/4" I get.

There is just enough room to see it slide back on the shaft

Are you prying it evenly?

I have been prying from both sides and trying to wiggle it out by switching from the front to the rear but the thing is just stuck... I thing I will try to pry from the back and then the front while hammering it back in each time...

At least it is warming up a little finally!!!

I would suggest rotating the front wheels to see if the teeth of the output shaft have somehow mangled themselves with that of the transfer case and you might be able to wiggle it loose that way. Make sure all the bolts are out :)

OK after some pretty hard hammering and prying on each side I was left with this...

A twisted output shaft...

How the hell did I do that?

Launching the car definately can do that, if not worse. Check the tcase to make sure it does not have damage teeth as well.
