I installed a new transmission and clutch but now it acts like its got a slipping clutch. On acceleration in lower gears and any boost in higher gears it slips badly and makes a chunky sound. It will also make a grinding sound (like the sound of a bad syncro) when I accelerate in 1st or second gear. Double checked the flywheel and pressure plate assembly and all is good there (flywheel was also resurfaced to a step of .610). The transmission goes in and out of gear great (it should since it's a brand new rebuild) and the clutch grabs off the floor about 2"; a little low but not enough for it to drag and certainly not for it to slip. It would seem to me that if the transfer case went bad that the car would still have front wheel drive though I understand the viscous may be creating an imbalance in power distribution and may act like a slipping clutch?
Nevertheless, I would like to try a good transfer case (92 awd) if somebody has one that could lend me and then perhaps sell before I dismount the transmission and send it back to be checked.
Thanks,
Robert
