Nice to meet you sir. Don't take this the wrong way as most guys do, but we are very keen to using correct grammar and punctuation at rmdsm. I'm glad to see that another guy is getting into these great cars. Do some searches and learn a lot my friend. We are always here to help!

Welcome to RMDSM.ORG! Feel free to ask questions, also use the "search" button (it is your friend). Some of the most knowledgable people are on this board, and they can give you the most accurate answers, so have fun!

Hey man, welcome. I hope you "enjoy" these cars as much as we all do. I think that you will find out in due time why I put the word enjoy in quotes. It's kind of a love hate relationship sometimes. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'll try not to blow mine up. I had a GVR4, so I know how temperamental they can be.

OK, Buckley politely tried to tell you about how we like to keep a professional looking site. If you look at what I quoted from you, and then when I re-typed what you said the correct way, I think you will understand my point. The admins/owners of this site are very friendly and have forgot more then most of us know, but have a very big pet-peeve about using the english language the way it was meant to be used. Personally I like their idea, it helps in understanding what someone is saying and also finding what you are looking for.

If people make an attempt that's all we really ask. It's easier to use the search function when you know what you're searching for. Having useful information in a post and not remembering what cute "web talk" way they spelled something makes it a real pain in the ass to search for. Most of the people who will answer a post won't bother reading it if it takes 20 minutes to decipher the lingo. And last but not least, everyone who came here and got their asses chewed for typing like a dink at first now makes an attempt at English, if I were to let other people slide it's not fair to them. So having said that, welcome to RMDSM, re-read our rules :) You'll find it doesn't take that much effort to use upper case letters, good grammar, and legible spelling.

Like any 16 year old car, it's probably not going to be the most reliable thing on the road. I would probably not suggest it as your only car to get you around.

That being said, there are a few bolt ons that you could do to net some increased performance (exhaust & intake), but in general, the more you do to the car, the more unreliable it will be.

No one can answer this for you. It's your decision. Most everyone on this board bought their DSM to mod it, not leave it stock. And while modded cars have a higher risk of breaking parts, if done right it can still be a reliable car.

Many members of this board have heavily modded daily drivers.

I agree, one of the most important things you could ever have is a spare car. That is what I would do first and foremost.

Couldn't agree more. I use my Talon for a daily driver and it is a constant headache. I would avoid the headache and either leave it stock for now (or very lightly modded), or make sure you have other means of transportation.

Although, as mentioned before, if enough time is put into maintenance and upkeep, it can still be fairly reliable, even when heavily modded.

Thanks for all the input guys.I also have an 05 scion xb and a 72 buick skylark. I'm thinking bolt ons and routine maintenance are the road i will travel. Now i just have to start hunting down parts. :D

If the '91 tsi you got is AWD, I am selling a 3" turbo to tip exhaust. I posted it in the "parts for sale" forum if you're interested...or PM me for more info.
