Yep, got a ticket to race this morning.

I ended up getting one spectator ticket. I'm pissed.

They automatically rolled the racer ticket link over to the spectator ticket link when they sold out and made no indication that the race tickets were sold out.

Are tickets transferable?

I really didn't want to go and just watch.

Bandimere has 32,000 seats...... so ya, doubt you have to worry about it.

Looks like there are 6 DSM's all in the 11's to high 10's that wil be there, awesome!

I just saw this on the Bandimere website. It looks to be 25 extra positions for the all out event. I dont quite understand it but it seems you have to fill out a card and mail it in. This could be some good news for some of you out there. Click on the link in the calneder for more information.

For those that plan on going, I highly suggest you walk around the pits during the down time.

Especially on Friday.

You will see some pretty sweet cars.

The tech lanes are also a pretty good viewing opportunity as well.

I just would like to say good luck to all the DSM owners that are going to be participating in the event. I am a fan of the show and I have yet to see any import win. We had luck with a mirage making it pretty deep in the final 16 on the the Arizona show. Of course the car was 4G63 powered with an awd conversion. The cast and crew were really impressed. So it's up to Denver to put the icing on the cake. Go out there and run your car's all out. You guys have this whole forum behind you!

A heads up to anyone who hasn't left yet. There is a line all the way out of bandimere for tickets for spectators. Might save you some time to buy them online. Thats what I just did. $4 service charge is what they add, but it will probably save you an hour of standing in line. Just a heads up.

Sitting on the couch at midnight, just unloaded the trailer with Marcus. There are no true words to describe the past few days, but..:D

Oh man, from the INSANE amount of people, to the till 3am drunken nuttyness, 7 hours of sleep since wednesday, the absolute highs and lows of racing, the constant sound of huge horsepower with everyone playing with launch control for hours on end, oh man....that was the shit fellas!!

I'll try and sum up my racing in my lack of sleep stuper.

Fridays 2 practice runs, pro .4 tree.

First run, death, ~on a stick~

ALS worked great, built 15psi on the line, wicked launch, 1.602 60 footer, shifted to 2nd and 3 plugs were foulded out. Sputter, sputter, then after a few seconds, plugs cleaned up and the car took off. Turns out to be a 14.4 at 118. lol The run was blown anyway, slow shift and go examine the logs.
So happy to have my 14 year old tuner there to help me look at the logs and make some changes. (ROFL)
2nd test run on friday. Same type of scenaro, this time out of the groove, 1.7something 60, a little better, but still just dead flat crap once I go to 2nd. 13.3 at something. No more test runs, more people than I've EVER seen at Bandi, and I'm lookin' like I might not even qualify for this show...oh well, party time! LOL
Saturday morning, after just a few hours of sleep due to the night of comedy and looneyness (omg), there's easily 20,000 spectators begining to funnel through the gates. Which started at 6:30am!! LOL
Around 8am, a tremendous buzz of a million pit vehicles and the sounds of stutterboxes building boost, big blocks on line locks, and just wonderful overwhelming onslaught of excitement was starting to set in.:)
Here we go, Jake and crew blasts up to our pit, and gets it done. The drivers meeting with Rich and the Pinks crew is not far away and they've already staged the first 100 cars. (I'm 173) We start testing in the pit. After 20 or so tests of the ALS launch control, the ignition will just not keep up with the amount of fuel we want. Trying out the hard cut, the concussion from that cannot be properly described. Everyone ok? Jon? WOW! You could SEE the concussion. LOL!
Back to just the stutter box, it works, the ignition will at least hold for that. First run on race day, 3 psi launch on a .4 pro tree, HAV Productions HD camera strapped to the cage, all the world is watching along with the pinks crew and cameras all over the line, it's time. Ya, I was a little nervous.
Decent launch, spirited shifting, 1.9 60, 12.4 at 118. Ok, at least we made the cut.
Hours later, 2nd run, this time the show is going and we go from Rich's arm drop. Crowd is just huge, the entire bandi facility is overflowing with wonderful motorsports from every angle. Every flat piece of land in sight is a pit. Line up out the groove, heart pounding :p, get to the line and get on the studderbox before this other guy gets to the line. I'm there, foot down, give the nod, arm drop and we're off. 7psi this time, the car just hammers outta the hole. I'm all kinds of squirly! Inches from the wall spinning hard, I get it all straight and NLTS to 2nd. Hits good and hard, still a wee bit loose :p, lift a bit going into 3rd, then NLTS to 4th. Hell ya, 11.80. Whoot! Now I can relax and watch the show while we wait for the call. Hung out with a grip of buddies, watched the show, jet cars, super fast cars, a number of WTF's and OMG's, and they called the pack. Went just a little too fast for the class they picked, but it's all good. I'm still stoked for you guys getting in, that's just awesome in every way fellas. Way to go!!
From the Landry's killer good food, the hospitality of Camp Martinez, the last few days will be something to remember. I've never laughed so hard and had so much fun in my life. The after midnight drunken racer visits, the pit vehicle madness, the hovering 6am 'copter, the new found friends, so much to sink in. That was a seriously great time.

Wow, wow, wow.

We should have kept track of how much ice and stuff we used.

100 lbs of ice, at least
20 gallons of fuel for the generator
40 lbs of propane
2 cases of gatorade

God knows how many energy drinks were consumed.

We had the best "after party" going from Thursday night until we loaded up last night.

I'll let Seth and Davis tell their stories, but what a fun filled four days.

Hal

Hey guys, this is Davis' wife Missy. We got home late last night and he had to be to work first thing this morning so he asked me to post for him.

First off, a huge thanks to Bobby for letting us run the black widow. And a big thanks to the Landry's for all their hospitality. The food was great every night, the late night fun was awesome, and there are no words to explain the support. Thanks to marcus for the trailor, and erron for all the support. And i can't forget to thank paul for letting us use the trailor. it was nice having a place to sleep ;)

We went out this weekend to have fun and that is exactly what we got. Davis ran his car all out everytime and his times just kept improving. First run was a 12.4 at 122 mph with a 2.0 sixty foot, then he ran a 12.2 at 123 mph with a 1.9 sixty foot, followed by a 12.1 at 125 mph with a 2.0 sixty foot. He felt really good with all his runs, and went back to the trailor to get out of the sun and wait for the announcement for the 16. Then they announced that there was going to be 32 cars instead. When they called his number he jumped out of the trailer in complete shock and made his way down to the staging lanes. He was in lane 3 which were the 16 cars in the :second chance" lane. The car he was lined up against was a corvette that said she runs an 11.95 all day long. knowing that he knew he was the challenger and he really needed to run all out. They got to the start line and when rich dropped his shoulders Davis launched the hell out the car, got out of the hole really well, and ran the hell out of the car to get the win light by what seemed to be car lengths. at the end of the track he was told he got the win light and to go back to the top of the staging lanes for the 16!! when he pulled around everyone from the DSM community was there to congradulate him and support him. He was then approached by the husband of the driver that he raced asking him what the hell he was doing here. And that he red lighted the race. Davis said he was 100% sure he did not red light. and he asked the pinks crew and bandimere what was going on and nobody knew. we finally went up to the tower and found out that he did not red light. he broke out. that run he ran an 11.69 at 129 mph with a 1.8 sixty foot! The fastest the colt has run on drag radials! He was a little dissapointed to not be in the 16 but very excited about the time he ran, and the experience that he had.

all in all a lot of fun! it was really nice to meet everyone off the boards and be able to represent the dsm community! Seth and Davis made the 32, and they're cars will be on Pinks!!

thanks again to everyone for all the fun and support! It was an awesome event!

Lots of fun for me and the wife to hang out with all you guys yesterday. Thanks to Hal for use of the grill and shade more importantly. Was fun hanging out with everyone all day. Was glad to see a couple of guys get picked at least to have the show down in the end, and I really just want to say good job to everyone that raced even though your not a couple grand richer today I'm sure you had a great time.

On a side note we stayed till after it all was over and when going back up to the pits to grab our backpack from where everyone was staying we noticed 2 extra fold chairs and a tie down strap that was left behind. Everyone was gone so I grabbed it fearing no one would come back up (since it was so late) and was just going to bring it up on the list here so whoever could get their chairs and tie down back.

Wow, that was a fun weekend.

I want to thank all you guys up there for letting us use your shade, hang out and eat your food! And especially my buddy Steve and my brother who helpded me bust ass and get my transmission done and clutch on Thursday night!

My new clutch and transmission work freakin awesome!
My car ended up running like poo, but that turned out to be a good and a bad thing.

Friday I got one pass before it was rained out. Went 12.2 @ 115. I had 10 counts of knock all the way down the track.

Saturday we gapped the plugs down to .024 and pumped out all the gas and put 5 more gallons of 110.
Went 12.00 @ 118 still had a miss fire and picked up some knock in 2nd gear.
So we gapped the plugs down to .022 and I switched to my pump tune and tried to up the boost.

First round with the arm drop, I launched the hell of out the car. Pretty sure I went a 11.97.
Then they called me for the show, I couldnt believe it! So awesome!
I got lined up against a guy running 12.2-12.4 I believe. All I had to do was launch the car and not break......

We'll the car "broke". About 40 feet out maybe a t-bolt clamp slipped off the coupler and car fell flat on its face. I could only get 5psi and that was the end of that.

Congrads to Davis too, his car was fun to watch run everyone down!
At least we'll be on TV. 2 imports made it out of the maybe 12 that were there out of 450+ cars!

Great Time!

Priceless moment when Rich asked Hal "you really want to launch over here?"

Nice Pics 6-Bolt!

Forgot to change my fouled plugs before the first test n tune run so she was spittin all the way down the track and then we got rained out for the 2nd test n tune pass. Saturday morning ran a 11.14 @ 125 with a 1.53 60'. Next run was the arm drop and I tried to study Rich's arm drops so I could get a good launch. Well I thought I launched great, but him and his red flaggin buddies did't think so. They ended up DQ'ing me for leaving early and lots of people said I was right on and the whole crowd was boo'ing Rich and his decision makers. Was a very clean pass that might have been a high 10 but I guess we will never know. Decided not to use the nitrous because of inconsistantsy and I was only running 28psi. Engine is damn near bullet proof so I think it is time to throw some L-19's in and turn up the wick a bit. Car weighs 3500 with me in it and will be going on a serious diet this winter and removing some usless items. Target weight wil be around 3200.

All in all this was a fun event, glad we were pit close to everyone and as always great to see everyone have a good time. Congrats to Seth & Davis for making the final 32!

With Hal on the radio the whole time, that was a riot. Like the mid-track pep talks? lol

Davis and Missy, you guys were a blast to hang out with. Matt and his anebriated antics we're so funny. We had such a great group there. It seemed that at one point we had 50 or so various people we know from other boards hanging out in our pit, that was great. Everyone helping each other out, the friendly ribbing of each other, making new friends and catching up with old ones. I'm still in awe of the past few days. It would have nice to make the field, but I accomplished everything I set out to do and a few more things that were just added bonus. I want send out a huge thank you to a number of people. Hal, Terese, Dave, Marcus, Jake, Red, Steph, Lucas, Mike, Jarad, Matt, Davis & Missy, Chris, Kenny, Mike B., Mark H., Derrek at HAV, Seth and his crew, and everyone else that made this the event to remember. It was awesome to see all the import guys together, making it happen, everyone pulling for everyone else and having the best setup pit in the entire event.

As expected, I unable to make the event but it sounds like it was a great showing. Like Davis said, my wife went into labor early friday morning and delivered my son at 1:33 pm on 08/08/08. All is good and healthy here and it was an added thrill to hear the updates from Davis and Missy.

While I couldn't be there in person, my car was and thats enough to make me very happy and feel I was there in a small way. I'm absolutly thrilled my car held together for you Davis and I knew you would get it figured out. I never would have thought a 1.8 60' was even possible on the street tires! Not to mention the 11.69, thats hands down some of the best driving there has ever been on such a poorly set up vehicle and puts you up there in that elite tier of drivers. All your hard work, sweat and tears have in a way been paid off. It sucks your car was unable to make it but I think fate took a better route and gave us both a huge level of satisfaction we may never have had if the situations had been different. WFO!!!

I'm also really glad to hear how good the whole experience was and the fan turnout was something to be really excited about. It sounds like everyone had a really good time and I think this will be talked about for quite some time.

Missy,

Davis drove the car very well. It was a relief and pleasure to see him learn and then exploit the car in such a short amount of time. In a way I’m glad he broke out instead of getting a red light. Did he switch cars at some point? Honda maybe? I’m a little taken back from your statement above implying that he (Davis) drove a DSM, CSM, FWD, five speed manual, open diff, non nitrous, full interior car that may have cost about 5-6k to build to an 11.69 on street tires!! Surely all this can’t be true? You’re just trying to make an old man jealous.

Many props to all who participated an attended. It’d be hard to believe that Pinks wouldn’t be back to have another good time and make more money in the future.

First I want to say great job to all of those that went :). For this being an event that sold out in less than 45 minutes a good chunk of imports made it in.

Congrats to Seth and Davis for making it in the final 32 and getting some tv time :).

Friday I went to do some test passes and on the first launch I broke one of the new DSS rear axles. Spent the afternoon driving back to get another axle and swap it in. I was hoping to get one more pass in but we got rained out Friday afternoon. Marcus was able to video the run and when I looked at it the launch was not that hard. The failure in the axle looks like the bar was too short. So when the rear sqatted on the launch it pulled the bar out of the inner joint. Oh well its under warranty hehe :)

Saturday the first pass I bogged it pretty bad and ended up running a mid 12 @ 126. The second pass which was the arm drop I only got on the two step for 1 second which wasn't enough. Bogged it again and then the car took off. No idea on the time or MPH since they don't give out slips on the arm drop runs.

This was the best event I've been to in along time :).

I had a good time, spent the 3-4 days before the event getting everything together in a hurry, didnt make the t&t before, so unfortunately ran into some unforseen issues on my first pass.

The fuel solenoid kicked just fine, but the nitrous one wasn't giving me any love :) Nitrous Map w/ timing retard + added fuel w/o nitrous = sad panda.

Second run was great though, I got tree'd but passed the guy like he was stopped and had maybe 5-6 cars on him by the end of the track, I really wish I would've gotten a slip on that run, but oh well, i'll just have to head up on wednesday and see whats up.

It was good to see everyone, and my buddy's sister was taking a lot of pics so i'll post those up when I get them.

First I must say thanks to the Landry's, Erron, & Marcus for accommodating myself and my family both days. When you go to these events with kids it makes it hard to talk cars and hang-out, but the kids didn't seem to mind just sitting around and looking at the DSM's. I have tons of pictures and will try to sort through them tonight.

One of the more memorable events was Hal's face when he realized Dave had installed lock-tite on all of the the axle bolts when they were removing the broken DSS shaft. :) Another was the 10 repeated antilag tests Jake and Erron were conducting while everyone is sitting and talking under the awning. A classic considering I was sitting near the turbo and could feel my clothes getting pulled in the direction of Erron's lower passenger front bumper.

I was sitting next to Seth's parents when Seth was lined up and his was mom was so crushed when his car broke on his very first elimination round. When Davis waxed the corvette and the crowd went wild it was an awesome David and Goliath moment of overcoming the impossible. I knew you would beat them the whole time, but I never new that you broke out doing it.

This was truly a great time and well worth the admission fee. I know many of you are recovering from the race and lack of sleep so I will let someone else type for a bit. I say we have just as much fun by cruising Firestone later this month and maybe Mark (Zeppelin) and I can host a pre-cruise DSM meet to show are appreciation for the hospitality shown at pinks.

That was awesome.

I was depressed when Seth and Davis lost in the first round. Then there was a possibility he was in...So I drank to it. Had to down a $7 beer. Then, back to depression when Davis really was out.

Other than that, super, great, bad ass experience. It was good seeing everyone. Jetpack Man was awesome:eek:. That is the first time I've seen that in person. 5 second jet cars.

I missed out on most of the weekend but that day made my week. I'm doing this now :D.

My memories are a bit less clear considering my advanced age and being an older brother ;)

We got in line at 2:00 on Wednesday, and chilled out. Thursday was spent killing time in the parking lot until we got in the gate.

Friday I could not get the car to leave clean on the Hoosiers so I decided it would be better to spin the Nitto's off the line than to bog the Hoosiers.

The first pass on Saturday was an 11.8 @ 128 (iirc) on a 1.8 60'.

We didn't get a slip for the arm drop pass but it felt better off of the line.

It was a blast to have everyone hanging out and thanks for the "thanks"!

Don't be jealous John, you had your chance to let the Dragon himself, pilot your car.
Hey big Congrats to you and yours. Just tell me he doesn’t look like Davis.

Your coffin, um I mean car performed really well I’d have to say. Too bad Davis had to hang a bus and not a fender on that stickerd up prostitute. I’m sure your ride would have easily lasted the day out.

I still have two tenths of room left to kill that street tire privilege and then turn around with the slicks and burn down that 10 something before the end of the year...Sucka!! Can't be letting some purple barney have his way around here.

Seriously, do I look 14? :-p

From what I can tell, Erron's ALS issue is coming from way too much heat on the back bank. Which causes misfires then causes the plugs to foul for the majority of 2nd gear. I changed the ALS to work for him but it now builds boost slowly. The standard 2step gives him about 2psi. The modified ALS gives him 7 if he stays in it for about 6 or 7 seconds. It will have to work until we get a stronger ignition in there. That last lauch of his was nuts. And I still say you're getting no traction on those tires :p! You SLID to the wall man! If it wasn't for his quick driving skeelz he'd be a blue smear down the wall right now.

Hal, dude, those steaks were AWESOME! Thanks for letting us eat with you.

Davis, mad driving skills man! You're making us proud.

Dave, it seems the more expensive the part the faster you break it. :-p

Seth, man you kill me :) Good to know you're getting used to the clutch already. They can be a pain in the butt when their fresh but you'll have it broke in and ready to go like a bat out of hell in no time man!

Jake, I was SO glad to have you there man. I would have been out of the event otherwise. Testing that hard cut, OMG! :D Jon, you alive out there? LOL

I'll never forget the look on Red and Steph's faces when that thing hit.

First I must say thanks to the Landry's, Erron, & Marcus for accommodating myself and my family both days. When you go to these events with kids it makes it hard to talk cars and hang-out, but the kids didn't seem to mind just sitting around and looking at the DSM's.

It was refreshing to see kids of that age that are so well behaved :)

It was great that you guys came out and I'm glad you had a good time.

Oh on a side note, the people who got to see the new DSMLink V3 client on Friday night seemed pretty happy.

There were some questions I couldn't answer, and I'm sorry but I just didn't (and still don't have those answers).

Tom and Dave will be doing a demo of V3 at the Shootout.

Oh dude, I can't imagine. LOL
I was nervous enough just for the arm drop!

Kenny told me to stop pacing, was it that obvious?:p

The crowd, the crew, the sheer -pace- of it all, just wonderful bliss.:D

I've got some video of various runs, until about 2:00 when i had to leave. I was just about to tape Erron's slippy slide run when the phone rang; I had locked my keys in the car and killed the battery and my rescue team [wife] was just about at the gate so i had to run from the top of the hill down to the gate at entrance B.

I'll get them captured from the vidcam; where do you want them sent?

between 87MB and 150MB. There's roughly 5 avi's with DSMs in them. I got your first run on Saturday morning.

It sounds like you guys had a great time. Too bad I don't live in Wyoming any more or I would have made it for sure.

Do you have an idea of when this new version will be made available? I am going to get Link once I get back from Iraq and I was wondering if it will be worth the wait. I should be back some time in December. Thanks and congrats to all on the great DSM showing at the event.
