Man, the car was fast down there at 4800' even with the 90+ temps.

That's fast. Way to go man!
Why does it seem that everyone is faster at PMI? Anyone else ever notice that?

1000' less elevation, so we make more power. People usually get worse times due to the lack of traction, but I was in the groove tonight.

Ya, but on a turbo motor, 1000' is nothing. I see A LOT of people that are 1-2 tenths faster down there.
Next time I go down there, i'm taking the walking tape measure. LOL
Did you make any changes to your car that would have improved your times?

Well, I improved by 1 tenth and was running faster, so it makes sense. It's basically 1mph - 1 tenth. I was pulling much harder at the end of 4th. 1000' on a turbo is easily 1mph - maybe more for higher-powered cars. Also, traction plays a part in this as well. If you are spinning, you usually have a worse ET and higher trap. When you dead hook, your ET is better, but your traps aren't quite as high. This is the phenomenon that people see over and over when going from Bandi to PMI - worse ETs due to worse 60's but higher traps.
In my case, my 60's were the same as Bandi on Wed, but I was trapping higher and thus had quicker ETs.

That makes sense I suppose. I'm just always surprise to hear that people are faster at a track that has very little prep in comparison to national level track. Either way, faster is faster, way to go man!

GREAT TIMES! And explained perfectly...... I however fall into the higher traps and lower ET's cause of traction...... I would love to see slicks on my car there. IF IT'S EVER RIGHT AGAIN. LOL

It does have weak prep, but if you're in the groove, you can hook like Bandi. My 60's were identical on Wed at Bandi and Fri at PMI. Outside the groove, I'm lucky to hit a 1.7.

Great numbers for the mods, do you have a cage in that beast? Your about to need it.
I havn't raced at PMP on my slicks yet but I am typically slower there than Bandimere. My best pass at PMP on street tires was a 12.001 @ 127.7 where my best pass at Bandimere is 11.933 @ 128.9...best mph is 129.93 at Bandi. I was running 23 psi at Bandi and 25 psi at PMP. If I would have just sucked it up and turned the boost down, it probably would have gone faster due to traction. The problem I was having at PMP was that after the first 60-80 ft the car would go into a massive burn out through 2nd, 3rd and the beginning of 4th. I also didn't want to try any more boost at Bandi because they said running over 130 mph is the same as running a 11.49 without a cage...and I already had 2 strikes against me.

Yeah, my goal is to get booted for not having a cage (roll bar). It's a DD with a baby seat in the back for taking the lil guy to day care, so if I hit some 11.4s, I'll take my lumps and drive home with a big grin.
I was faster at PMI - I figured it was because the lower altitude allows me to make more power. I don't have any traction issues after the launch, so it's no problem. At most, I occasionally chirp 2nd, but that's it. I may go faster at Bandi next time - we'll see. The low 11.6s last week were with a strong headwind whereas PMI had only a crosswind that didn't slow me down. Both were with 90*+ weather, though, so cool night in the Fall may hold some surprises.

When I ran a 10.9 they gave me a verbal warning at the tech building and re-inspected my car based on the time and trap I ran. I was told to remove the slicks and thus couldn't run faster than a 11.9 but got another warning for trapping 129.9. The next time I went back and ran an 11.4 and they just wrote 'roll bar??' on my time slip but didn't make me go to tech. On the next pass, I thought I had a bad launch and ran it out to the tune of 11.1 @ 130.9 mph. Then I was in deep doo doo but they still didn't boot me, I was suprised to find out I was on record for the previous two runs. After a couple of weeks I went back and slid through tech, but as I approached the starting, the track Manager pulled me aside and gave me another warning that if I went to fast I was booted for the year. He was actually pretty cool about it but made it clear I had run my luck dry and they knew my car.
If you are hovering around 11.4-11.5, they may let it slide but repeated dips below 11.5 will get you noticed.

If I ever get back, (dang car troubles) I hope for the same luck I had before. I did (2) 11.4's back to back and nothing was said to me!!! I hope for a lot lower if/when I get back.

I did all those sub 11.55s with no warnings, so I don't guess they'll bother me until I do 11.4s consistently. I will happily take the boot if that occurs. I would not need to go back to the drag strip again this year, haha.
