24-25 and it bleeds off to about 20. You would think I would have time to look at it considering I am only pushing buttons to shift and link is taking care of the N2O, but forget every time. it is the smoothest ride I have ever taken in a fast car. Thanks. it is very lonely knowing i am the only Auto out at bandimere. hopefully they pick my bracket for Pinks all out and I can represent the CSM and DSM crowd.

It does, first 11 ever, better than the first 12 for sure. Thanks. Now it is time for a new turbo the 16g has served its purpose. Thanks.
Anyone have a feed and return for a 5031e and a direct replacement for a EVO 8 front mount, extra 1g cage, injectors and working 91 throttle body?????? i don't want to get kicked out!!!!

If Jason ever quits farting around with the Mirage, he has a 60-1 T4 auto he has owned for many many years. He just needs to make up his mind which toy he wants to play with more though. The engine is done, just need to be dropped in. Maybe in the spring I can get him up there with you.

Good job. Gone faster than a ton of folks on here with much less stuff. I love it.

I am surprised that more people have not used the auto. It is much better than a 5 speed.

Thanks steven.

I saw it zooming out there but didn't see the 11. I had just one pass, which was an 11.748 @ 115.00, but then I blew out 4th gear on the 2nd run. You are trapping higher than I am, so congrats.

I was just glad to see the trap speeds go back to normal. I was down maybe 1-1.5mph from normal for my 11.6 runs previously, but at least I'm no longer seeing inflated 118-119mph traps.

"saw it"
not sure what it is like every one else? better than calling it a honda or a geo.
thanks. i just wish i could get it out of the hole, that is my biggest complaint.

sorry to hear you broke your trans, dang dsm's and their 5 speeds.

Oh I knew - I pulled my friend over (stock 08 STi) and told him to "watch this colt!" It was just a 12 @ 11X, but that was way faster than he expected, hah.

No worries on my 4th gear - I have been absolutely destroying it with countless 1.6 60's on 7k rpm 2-step launches and powershifting every gear. A few hundred runs just in the last few months - mostly 11s. It was due. :p Gonna have Shep build it stronger.

Jack is doing the R&R, but Shep sponsors me, so he's doing the rebuild. I have full confidence in Jack as well and recommend him to all locals.

I hope I can get my car tuned to run a run like that, now that I have the 16g.

So did you ever get they thing to hold boost. My 16g is hitting 30+psi and bleeds to 26psi by redline. My brother has the same issue. I cant get the thing to hold boost. I know there is so much more in my car if it would hold the boost to redline. Im seeing 22* timing but need that boost.

You consider 30 tapering to 26 on a 16g to be NOT holding boost? I'd say it's holding boost incredibly well. I can only eek out 27-28psi and drop to 17-18psi by 7k rpm. This turbo is not efficient at this altitude at those boost levels and should taper considerably. I'm very surprised you're holding that much boost - is it making power at 26psi/7krpm? I'm also seeing 22* peak timing in 4th but only because my load is so much lower due to the tapered boost. At sea level, I'd peak higher and hold longer, which would require less timing. You are talking about HUGE boost for such a small turbo unless I'm missing something here.

If I could maintain 26psi for more than 500rpm (like it would at sea level), I would be unbelievably fast, but my 16g6 cannot flow that much air.

I was talking with the guy on dsmtuners that made 499whp on there 16g and he said he was hitting 32psi and holding it almost to redline. I guess I didnt think of the altitude issue.

At the moment an injector seal decided to start leaking at about 15psi so its only hitting 28psi and bleeding to about 22 by redline. But before I was pegging the gauge at 30psi and falling to 26. This is only in 3rd and above, in the lower gears I see around 25 dropping to 20. I can feel the power drop off at about 6000k rpms with the stock cams.

Well I guess she is tapped out, maybe its time for a 50 or 75 shot to fill my HP junky needs. LOL

I don't see how any 16g could maintain a flat 32psi for any amount of time - it simply cannot flow that much air. The few 10-sec Evos on the stock 16g are hitting peaks of 32-34psi, but it tapers about 10psi by 7500-8000rpm. I don't know the details of the DSM you're referencing, though.

I would be very impressed if you were hitting a true 30->26psi MAP at this altitude on a 16g. It should be faster than mine in that case! :p

I guess I didnt think of the altitude issue.

Remember, boost pressure indicates a RESISTANCE to air flow.

A less efficient motor (small exh, cat con, etc) will hold more boost longer, but will flow less air mass than a better breathing setup.

People should not compare "boost" pressure, instead they should be comparing air flow (lb per min, etc) in order to gauge how their setup compares to others.

That is very true, my brother hits 28psi max on his 16g, with a stock evo mani, and 2.5" exhaust. I max the gauge for about 1 sec then it falls to 26psi maybe a little lower but I usually shift around 6000rpms. Im running 3" exhaust, sbr mani and everything is ported as can be.

The car I was talking about is Curt's car that Nate at TGP tuning did. They made 460whp on a stock longblock and 499whp on the rebuilt motor. He said his secret is he holds high boost levels longer than others.

warrtalon

Ah, I thought you were referring to redline as in 7k rpm or so. I also shift early - around 6400rpm - due to how power falls up so abruptly. AT sea level, I used to shift a little over 7k, since I continued making power.

By 6k, I probably am sustaining over 20psi still. My motor is stock, but I have cams, ported/coated stock exhaust, 3" catless TBE, ported/coated hotside, and SS O2. If my motor/head was built up more, the turbo would be even less efficient due to increased airflow from the motor.

I got in a little wreck a few weeks back and destroyed my exhaust. Today I just installed an old 2.5" turbo back with a 2.25" tuned magnaflow muffler and no cat that my brother was running. Now the boost leak is showing itself more. I hit about 28psi then its spiratic and drops to about 22psi by redline. Im running a stock built long block with 2g pistons.

With the full 3" and race magnaflow I had before I was hitting 30+psi for a few seconds and the would drop to about 24-26psi by redline. The exhaust helped a lot more than I though it would.
