Might be a good idea for the guys who are in pinks to see what times most the guys are running .

Well I'm not in Pinks but it was definitely good times tonight anyways. A lot of familiar faces there and some new ones I hadn't met that were nice to meet. Got out of there with nothing breaking and some times to finally go with the '95 which made me happy. I haven't raced at Bandi since I took the '97 into the 11's on the stock motor back in Oct. '05 so needless to say I was a little excited and very rusty. Took a few runs to get everything back and even the last run when things finally were coming together for a good run I still missed a 2-3 shift that screwed me out of what would have been my best time. 91 octane for gas running 21psi on a FP2544 (44lbs/min). Car is 3235lbs with me in it.

I imagine next week is going to be crazy busy of people getting ready for Pinks. I really wanted a 12.5@110MPH out of this car, but it will be to busy for me to take it next week so the week after Pinks I'm probably game to go again and get that time I want.

First 2 runs I had forgot to change the settings on the shocks and it was very loose. DOH! :D
I think should have downed my tire pressure some more to help a little more with traction. The last run is really the first launch that felt good to me. A few of the launches I didn't spin as much as I wanted and it would kick when it would hook.

Did I end up meeting you last night? There were several mirages out and I was trying to say hi to all of the owners since I knew you were out there and I hadn't met you before. Not sure if I ended up talking with you or not, but I was trying too. :)

Well last night was the first time since last October the car has been at the track. We got some really useful data out of it and so far everything is working good. :)

Does this mean you'll be all ready to go for Pinks? I got those days off work so I'll be going to watch.

Yup we'll be there. Just need to heat wrap the manifold and downpipe this weekend, check a couple connections and its ready to go.

Last night we were trying to dial in the boost but we weren't getting the results we expected.

On my car a certain setting value (55) gives 35 psi but on Daves car it was taking much larger adjustments (we stopped at 70).

It was acting like there was a boost leak and the turbo wasn't able to flow the air volume but the air volume itself never fell off like you would expect if there was a boost leak.

It didn't seem prudent to just keep cranking up the setting without knowing what was really going on.

When we got home, we did a pressure test and found no leaks but we did figure out what was going on and yes we do indeed need to "crank it up" a bit more.

We're using the Turbosmart e-boost unit and you just don't dial in "30 psi" you dial in a number (0 - 99) until you get to the desired boost. Because each turbo/wastegate setup responds differently, the numbers to make 35 psi on one car may be different than on another car. We just didn't expect this big of a variance.

After you get the boost dialed in, you can play with other settings to improve spool up, adjust (to some degree) for boost fall off, and some other neat little things.

It was good to see people I haven't seen in a while, see some new faces and best of all it was free. Courtesy of the City of Parker Police Department :D

We got some good information on spool up, on the airflow curve, afr, idc, and how knock levels change when we did or did not stuff more ice in the water tank.

Knock on wood, we're good to go for next weekend.

It was nice seeing everyone out there and making some solid passes. Dave's new set-up is, yet again, impressive and I can definately see some big numbers coming out of that car soon.

I made 4 passes and Davis made 3 passes in my car. I was 12.5 or better on the street tire with 2.3 - 2.4 60's. We decided after a few scary passes to turn the boost back down and suprise, it went faster. My best was a 12.2 @ 125.76 and a 2.3 60'. Davis was re-learning the car to run at PINKS and the NLTS owned him, but the little shit was pulling low 2.0 60's and hit a 1.9 60' on the last pass (better than any I've done to date). I think turning the boost down a little more and getting used to the car will put him in the 11.8-12.0 range.

BTW, the car weighed 2275 lbs full race weight with a completely full tank of e85.

Hey Dave, my coworker was up there in a blue Cobra kit car and he said he raced a red DSM on one of his runs. Was that you?

Probably not much of a race. Dave wasn't launching and I don't think he was really getting into it very hard until 3rd gear.

And Davis I know you adore my ugly mug, you'd stare at it all day if you could....longingly :-p

The guy in the Cobra is my main competition. He said he talked to a couple guys with DSMs as well and that they were cool.

Jake, one of these day's I'll have to check out your car to see what you did to lighten it up so much. My main handicap is weight - his Cobra weighs 2500lbs with him in it and he has a 320whp 351W and a 75 shot of N2O. The last time I weighed my car, it was 3400. The 320whp is probably a little generous (elevation corrected?), but his setup is still good to run mid 11s when he launches right. With the bottle, I'd say 350whp is probably more accurate for his car. I should be able to get to 400whp on my setup when I'm done without too much trouble, so if I could get down to about 2900-3000lbs, I should be able to take him.

Dave mentioned above he was only doing 3rd gear pedal mashes. I don't think he collected on slip or even look at any of his times.
