I was just wondering if i had to drop my transmission to pull my motor?

I've found it easier to pull the engine and transmission as a unit.

Pulling the tranny is easy and alot less work if you do it minus the motor.
Parts dinosaur has the best pricing for gaskets around!

Cmietzner,

I would get a gasket set from the dealer. There were a lot of revisions on the head gasket on those engines plus who knows what else was changed on the rest of them. Don't go cheap on the gaskets, get the latest revisions from the dealer and make sure you ask for them. Sometimes you might get an old revision from a set that has been sitting awhile that might haunt you later. If I remember correctly there were 12-13 revisions on the head gasket alone! :wow:

When I had my 420a, I dropped the trans out the bottom and the motor out the top. Also I did drop them both out the bottom tilted still having the tranny bolted to the motor by jackying the front of the car up as high as my jack could go.

**If you need step by step instuctions on pulling the 420a motor let me know...
