I have an AWD 1Ga and it is alomost tire time! I was wondering what everyone likes for a good performance tire but can also do decent in the snow. I know there are a lot of variables I just want peoples opinion! I was thinking about some Yokohama YK520 or the AVID VR4. Let me know what you think!!!!

I am a firm believer in the Nitto 450s. I ran them for a lot of years and would be able to run 1.7-1.8 60fts at Bandimere and still be able to get great traction around town and on I-70 going up snowboarding. I've driven a few other DSMs in the snow that had other tires and IMO they were the ones that did the best in the snow.

+1 Nitto Nt450's
Had them in a 225/45/17 flavor. Lasted quite a while with very aggressive driving and track time (read: Second Creek and Bandi) some years back.
Squealed like a pig when pushed beyond their slip angle, but they felt very consistant and didn't give traction up at the most inopportune time.

I like kumho ecsta asx. They are great in the snow.

I had those a couple of years ago when we had a big snow storm on the way home from work. They sucked! I continually got stuck. Had to be pushed out a couple of times. I was behind a big Ford extended 2wd van who got stuck, but was able to get going and I couldn't.
At least that was my experience.
