Affecting all classes in 2010, where applicable, and to reduce the chance of fuel leaks, all NHRA-accepted fuel lines will be required to use ends that are specifically designed for the type of fuel line being used to reduce fuel leaks. To prevent transmission leaks, all cars running 10.99 seconds or quicker must have an NHRA-accepted locking-type dipstick in the transmission.

To improve the strength mounting point of parachutes on all vehicles running over 150 mph, NHRA announced that parachutes must have their own independent mounting, sleeved ½-inch-minimum steel bolts or pins. Material around the holes for the bolts/pins must be equal to or greater than the bolt/pin size.

The sportsman classes will see increased requirements on fire suits. All drivers in cars running 7.49 seconds or quicker will be required to wear SFI 3.2A/15 fire suits. In addition, E.T. Motorcycle riders will be required to use Kevlar-lined gloves, or gloves equipped with slide buttons, the same requirement currently in the Pro Stock Motorcycle category. For improved fire protection, Super Street drivers will be required to wear 3.2A/1 pants in addition to the 3.2A/1 jackets they already wear.

So I need a NHRA approved locking dipstick now? and possibly fire pants?

Dipstick for automatic transmissions.

It sure reads like if you are required to wear a jacket, you have to have pants too.

... and we wonder why people race on the street and not the track.

Looks like I better start looking for a fire suit... Thats going to be AWESOME to wear in the summer months but I also understand a need for safety.

I'm surprised they didn't require a special NHRA approved dipstick for the engine since many blow out going down the track.

This year I had to replace my harness and helmet since they were outdated and I only went to the track once.

Just because it is a rule doesnt mean it will be strictly enforced though. The fire pant is easy.

Like the engine catchpan is suppose to be required (or was) for imports, but they only once ever checked my car for it. Even then others were allowed to run with out it. This year they didnt say anything about it so I never ran it.

You *can* get most harnesses re-certified by sending them back to the manufacturer.

Crowe does it for less than 1/2 of what a new set of belts costs.

I'll have to call the manufacture and see how much they want. They're still in great shape and have a nicer locking system.

I wonder about the fuel line ends and whats acceptable.

Thanks for the info Hal!

I suspect the hose ends would be something like steel required for cars running methanol.

I seriously doubt it would apply to any of us.

So I just need to hit the 150trap is what you're saying....?? ;)

Just something else for Bandimere to give us hell for. After going through tech at PMP, Bandimere is like security at DIA and PMP is like going into the mall...
