So I figured its time to open the flood gates and hear what everyones thoughts are on how we can improve the site. Below is an email that was sent out to all of the registered members of RMDSM. Lets hear what your thoughts are and how we can improve the site or what you would like to see added.

Some of the comments I received had to do with the color scheme. That is in the works of being changed to make it easier for viewing.

I have also added us to the pre-order list for the newest vBulletin community software which has quite a few new features.

Also please if you are planning on replying with "get rid of this member" or "I hate so and so" send it via PM to myself. I want to keep this thread strictly for how we can make this community better.

Thanks,

It has been over a year since I have sent out an update as to how things are progressing on RMDSM as far as changes/integration. I wanted to take some timeand kind of run through the changes we have made to improve your experience on the Rocky Mountain DSM forums. Some examples are but not limited to:

*Rocky Mountain DSM was moved to a dedicated server which allows for better hosting of the site itself plus videos and photos.

*We have fully indexed our site on Google, Yahoo, Ask.com, Moreover and Live.com so all of the threads/posts are shared.

*Everyone now has a 1,000 message limit in the private messaging system.

*We have also incorporated a photo gallery which you are allowed to share outside of RMDSM. All users start out with a 10MB storage limit and can be increased once you become a premium member by contributing to our site.

*vBay has been removed and we have gone back to the old method of classifieds.

Looking down the road:

*Integrated email where we can host your email for you.

*Personal web space (we can currently do this just contact hostmaster@rmdsm.org for details).

*Youtube integration (allows for youtube items to be posted in threads).

The ISP we are using has done a tremendous job in assisting with any needs I have had. To give you some more info they had a huge power outage on the
commercial side and it did not even knock us out of the water. Very large props to those guys and the infrastructure they have created. I have gone back and looked at how much bandwidth we consume each month and quite frankly we are barely scratching the surface. This means we have quite a bit of open capacity for hosting possibilities. If you are interested please send an email to hostmaster@rmdsm.org.

You've done a nice job with the site Dave! I actually like the current colors but I'm good with any color you see fit.

Things that would cool to see on the site-

Newbie FAQs / Common Issues
Tech Articles
Current DSM 1/4 mile times for the year
Current HPR times for the year
E85 and racing fuel station locations
DSM Parts Sources
Proven turbo combos at 5280'
Things to consider when building engine/head
Transmission/tcase/axle info
DSMLink Maps (possible AEM configs)
Picture Gallery

I'm just rambling some things off that might make the site more informational.

I'd like the 1/4 mile back.

I think only having the current years times allowed would be good. Like having it allow April through March

I'd like to see a tips and tricks section. Some type of section where we can have a database of some of the little things that people do with their DSM's. It can be driving tips, tuning tips, little tricks that they used to fix things or fabricated, etc.... Maybe not a forum type of section that people comment on, but more like a WIKI.
If you think about all the "Home Depot" mods and things some of us have done over the years, we may be able to help out some of the newer members and some of us old timers may even learn a thing or two.

I'd like the 1/4 mile back.

I'd also like to see this.

Well we have the chance to use a new software package for RMDSM. From what I've seen in the feature list we should be able to accomodate all of the suggestions :). I think it comes out a little later this month so when I have a test site running I will see what we can incorporate. The photo gallery will be the fun one to try to move over. Worst case we can put a portal back into RMDSM and see how well it works.

As far as the content goes we will need some help writing it.
