Really what did he do? Try to enforce a rule? ;-)

I don't blame him. Steve's ideas for cleaning it up really are not going to help IMO. He complains about bandwidth issues. Well then why don't you setup a BB like this :).
I think its now official that we have grown to 12 members in less than 4 days. Thats faster than codsm. Lets keep them coming and make everyone realize this is the new DSM life :).

Actually Devon left because I refused to accomidate his personal needs in my posts. Whatever. I'm not here or on CODSM to make people happy.
But anyway, good looking board.

i think since we are starting something new here we should keep the slate clean. no old grudges. no petty arguements. everyone has an opinion, a dream for thier car, and a preference to tuning and parts. so let them have it and lets just talk and learn about our beloved cars.

Good plan :). Well the forums are open to anyone but the members area is filtered to dsm members only.

Keeping the forums open to non-members can be good and bad. First it can spice up the conversation once and awhile with an outsiders view of things. At the same time, they may cause a few flair-up's now and then as well? I guess it's all about the members and keeping an open mind...
When people act a fool, it's always disruptive. Be cool:cool:
You know, DSM's aren't the only fast cars out there?
It's O.K. to have a conflicting point of view than others.
It's O.K. to be wrong once in a while, so swallow your pride & admit it. People will respect you more.
Don't take things too personal.
There can/may be more than one way to accomplish a task or goal?
If everyone thought like you, it'd be like talking to yourself? That's no fun:D
The point is... all personal agenda's aside, we're here because we love cars. Making them go fast & look good. I'm excited to get this thing started!:)

Someone needs to talk to dsm.org to get us an offical dsm club. In other words we get listed on their web site as part of dsm.

I've e-mailed todd day twice now and have heard no response. Anyone have any ideas?

I'll second everything John R said below. I couldn't have said it better. I haven't seen you in quite awhile John, glad to hear it's finally coming together for you, again. :)
I have some questions for everybody that I think might be good to get out in the open early on for everybody...
Is most everybody here still a part of CoDSM? (I am.)
If you are, do you plan on continuing to be a part of CoDSM?(I am, unless it gets worse.)
Given the fact that this is Rocky Mountain DSM, I'd expect most members here to either be a part of both clubs or former Codsm members...
This is not a problem for me, but is it for some? I do not plan on babbling about this club on codsm, nor babbling about codsm on this board. I have enough babbling to take care of at dsmtalk...

Good questions vern. Let me give my opinions and I'd like to hear everyone elses.
We all know that there are lots of issues behind closed doors in CoDSM. One of which is the management and its actions in the past. When I was forced to leave, I recieved an e-mail from just about everyone on the list. 95% of them said I was correct and that they could not believe the issues that I mentioned. 5% told me to goto hell. IMO this is a different organization but its up to each person to decided which path they would like to go down. I made my mind up a long time ago as to what I wanted to do. I just needed an excuse to do it.
This organization is bound to become the ultimate dsm club for colorado and the rocky mountain region. Its only a matter of time before it actually happens.
Also from January 1st to 5th we recieved over 11,000 hits to the site. Today we just got another 2000 hits. I think were on a roll :)

Nice, I think that this type of board is way better than the e-mail feed and I'd venture a guess that you are right about this board becoming the ultimate DSM source/club in the region if the %'s you mentioned are correct. I really had no idea that they were that high, but remember I didn't ask about them, hehe.

its hard to say what is right and wrong. you can't be in fraterinties at once. but on the other end if you have a passion for for something why can't you be a member of 2 clubs the share the same passion. as for myself, it makes it easier for me to be a member of one club. there are still people i will frequent with how are not in this club, but are old friends from another. i see it as visting old friends when you go home.
now, i cna't think of anyway to get national recognition other than patiently waiting an answer from Todd. i'm sure he's just as busy as we all are.
keeping the forums open is an awesome idea. DSM.TALK is an open forum. sometimes the pages get heated, but like was mentioned, "swallow your pride". i know i can only speak about what i know, and i don't think anyone can get mad if you point out that fact.
i think we are on the right track.

Well I'm staying on CODSM. It's just another rescource for me to utilize. I post on NABR a bit but I still chat with fellow DSMers on DSMtalk. I also have my own BB. It's all stuff I can use for information.
I'm not really into the whole socialness of these clubs. I'd rather just post my crap, read some crap and get out, not bother with a lot of touchy feely stuff (movies, bowling, etc). And if I ignore the touchy feely crap then CODSM serves the purpose I use it for.
To me a car club is these three things:
1) Talking and sharing information about the cars
2) Helping people with their cars when you can
3) Getting help with your car if you need it
That's it. As long as a club has those I am happy with it and will ignore anything else.
I don't think a heated rivalry with CoDSM is the way to go about it. Some people are loyal to it, people that are not the people you have a problem with. No need to get into any battles over turf with those people. It's like the AFC and NFC. Maybe someday both clubs can get together for a shootout at Bandimere, who knows.
The "list" is a rescource for that group but it isn't the end all for every member. The list management doesn't decide how I think. But anyway, Dave, if I had been in your shoes and was unhappy and thought the rest of the group felt the same way I would have called this site "CoDSM". If you are right then people would migrate over here and this would be "CoDSM". CoDSM is the people not the list. Just wondering if that thought had crossed your mind. It would have been interesting in a mutinous sort of way. Either way, this is still pretty ballsy.
But anyway, I don't want to blab about CoDSM on your board anymore so I will never mention it again.
My *issue* with CoDSM is the way in which the moderator abuses
his authority to settle personal disputes (remember when Robert Spengler was banned).
It has also been my experience that he considers any criticism
of the list (content, moderation, etc) as a criticism of himself.
This is VERY similar to what happened on the national IRC channel
last year.
The moderators became VERY heavy handed when dealing with SPECIFIC individuals.
I (and some others) complained to Todd Day.
Todd, simply said to start our own channel.
We did, and the national channel died. Todd eventually gave the
redirect for the national channel to *us*.
CoDSM is not going to die off, and Todd Day will NOT put up a link
to a competing board (no matter what the excuse).
As long as people continue to contribute to the CoDSM list, it will
remain a viable source of information.
If this board is to succeed, it must also be a viable source of
information AND it must eliminate the negatives that have caused
the problems that exist in CoDSM.
It must focus on attracting new members by being a BETTER source of information, not by *bashing* CoDSM.
Remember, CoDSM in and of itself is not *the* problem. The problem is the way in which it is administered.

I think we should honestly try to show up CODSM this year with faster cars than theirs. I dont mean rub it in their face... wait... yes I do.. haha... I think we could establish a friendly rivalry with them... Because here we are running our mouths about us being better than them, so lets show em!
Rob
Oh yeah, preach on brotha Hal! :)

I kinda agree with Rob. I think we should give them some *friendly* competition this coming season. We need to let them know that the egos of the list moderators caused CoDSM to lose some of their most knowledgeable members and fastest cars.
Patrick
BoostedGS- hoping to be a contender this summer :D
:-)
You guys are all old and slow.
Ok, maybe not old.
Ok, maybe not all that slow.
Just trying to stir up some CRAP.
SPengler - hows the car? Is it running?

Been to cold lately to work on the monster, also to much stuff going on with Christmas and New years and Family stuff.... OH and Patricks clutch.... heh. and snowboarding... and my other three cars. :p Did I mention im plain lazy? :)
I think Art and Patrick and I have pretty much agreed that after Patricks clutch is done, its on to my car... Both of my cars. I have a whole nother winter to get my GSX body kitted and asthetically enhanced. Plus broken in and tuned... Cant drive anyways... Damn Police....
Rob
Can't drive? Say it ain't so, man. Didn't you just get your license back in like April?
