I was wondering if someone might know or remember some specifics on Norm's and John's 12 sec runs.

What turbo was used?
What boost psi was ran?
What degree of timing advance was made?
What fuel?

Norm has told me in the past that he was tuning by O2 volts only... So, I assume he had no idea on what his timing was like and I swear he told me it was a BR20G turbo.

John, wanna take a trip down memory lane and recite some specifics?

The turbo was a TEC 20g, unported and unclipped. 25psi. Fuel was 110 leaded thru 550 injectors on an "upgraded" denso pump - it was the buschur upgrade to the stock pump. With a bigger pump (supra?) the car would have run into the 11s, but I ran it out of fuel. IMHO.

Base timing is 5 deg, I had mine bumped to 10 deg. Using O2 voltages I tuned to about .86 - .88 volts. EGTs right around 1600, which is closing in on the danger zone.

Sound good?

Thanks John. I was just theorizing up here and got curious, hehe.

My set-up is different.

But neither one of you guys had a logger and were tuned for <7 knock sums, even though the race fuel probably helped that.

The 25 psi with a 20g seems to be a common boost for the 20g, at least from what I've seen/read. So that is what I thought it would've been.
