So I wanted to see what you guys thought of my new engine setup. Here goes, I have a 6-bolt (of course) im going to be running EVO 8.7:1 bored .020 over pistons with my 1g big rods shotpeened with ARP rod bolts. ARP head studs, Mitsubishi 4 piece metal headgasket, Fidanza 8lb flywheel with my CFDF 2500lb Pressure plate and I might install a ACT street disk in place of the CFDF disk if its worn at all. Then i'll be running my Frank Jr 19c turbo with my Spearco 221 FMIC. With my completely upgraded fuel system Stevetek fuel system, 660cc inj, Walbro 255lph Fuel pump and a S-AFC. With 3" turbo back exhaust, 3" Mandrel bent intake, with a 1g al blaha MAS and 2.5" UIC pipes.
I plan on pushing 21psi on pump gas and 26psi on race gas. Im hoping for around 400hp to the wheels, but I think my turbo going to run out of air at about 390hp So I since a FP green going in the next year or so to support the extra Hp. So what do you guys think is this dueable.
Im going to use Spitfire Machine of Federal to assemble my engine. The same place thats building Gregs stroker motor.
Cause Western Engine Supply sucks, if carquest uses them im not using them. :p

Let me recommend another machine shop. Western Engine Supply. They know their stuff when it comes to engine work. No only that but their prices can't be beat.

But can Western Engine shotpeen the rods for me for a decent price. And are they good at honing and boring. Spitfire says They will bore and hone each hole for 12 dollars, balancing for $125 and assembly for $125 that sounds like a good deal to me. Is Western in about the same price range??
Oh one other thing should I buy the Rod bearings and thrust bearing before I bring the engine in. Or should I just have the machine shop do it. I was a little sketchy on that since I could end up buying the wrong bearings if my crank has been polished or machined down at all from the past.

Let the machine shop provide all the bearings for the engine.
I would call them up to verify what you want done.

How did your engine work out for you? Spitfire built mine, but I haven't started it up yet. I've been waiting on the tranny, and just got it back.

Did I read it right when you said a 1G MAS?

The AlBlaha MAS is kind of like a hacked stock MAS, except it's readings are much more linear and make tuning more consistant and predictable than a hacked unit.

Ahh I see.
I suppose I learn something new every day.

I would have to agree with Dave here. I've heard, they are the best, and that they suck. Well, i've had 4 engines through them and every single has been perfect.
The thing is, when anything is done, you should never assume it is right on. Micrometer, dial guage, plasti-guage, everything you assemble. That way, if it is -not correct- you find out on the engine stand, not on the highway.
Smiles and checkered flags...
