View Full Version : DSMLink
The DSMLink is in the car... and man oh man... what a totally different feel.
No sputter or stumble... idle, WOT, and especially part throttle are much improved.
I ran 3rd gear to 7100 rpms @ 2 bar... no knock with 104 and water injection.

It sure is hard to keep up with the landry's these days? What it's been on the market for less than a week and you've already have it:o

So that means it's better than you're PMS & tunerstein combo then...hmmm. If i didn't already have both of the above mentioned products I'd take advantage of my e-promed ECU too. Great price as well.

I shipped my ECU on Monday, had it back wednesday!
I am adding DSMLink support to my TunerStein products, so you can have a Palm instead of the laptop in the car.
The TunerStein update for the DSMLink is no charge, so you wouldn't lose any investment there.
But the PMS... yea... big hit. I know of at least six guys selling PMS units!

WOW again! Hal you are awesome! I was actually going to get with you on updating my setup as I still have the origional version. I haven't even downloaded it onto my computer yet as I was waiting till it got closer to when the car would be done & now I have a new computer too.

Again mines still in the box! I have all the updates too, I hope I can resell it to at least make up for the cost of the DSMlink...it's worth it just to have the knock sums. Besides I'm doing the 1G head swap as well. I hope the DSMlink will like my 6bolt?

so there is a way to run DSMlink of a palm? i thought it was a lap based system, that with a burned eprom(set to your likeing) you could control the computer, instead of just monitoring it.
out of the blue, but how much does a new PMS cost?

With software... a PMS runs about $1300 new.
The Palm interface is almost complete... next week (I hope).

man you just don't play around do you?
on the DSMlink site, it talks about setting the redline. how hard is it on the tranny to say, bump it up to 8k?
p.s. Rob had a cool idea for setting up a cradle for the palm.

I think its the valve train you have to worry about when raising your redline, not your tranny... With an 8000RPM redline, theoretically, a DSM tranny would do 180+... :)
p.s. Rob had a cool idea for setting up a cradle for the palm.
Could you just cut the female DB-9 connector off of the cradle's wire, and hardwire it to your ODB-II connection in your car? then you could just pop your palm into its cradle when you wanna data log... :)

You can use ANY of the 95 Eeprom ECU's... just look for a 95 ecu with an "E" in the lower right corner of the label.
Yes, you can see knock, inj pulse width, and a whole lot of other
things at a sample rate of over 200 per second :)

plus they are on sale right now. if i could find an eprom on the trader, i'd try to have it next month.

i checked 2 of them about 3-4 months ago when i was on a parts run. neither of them had one. i guess i ought to go back, since there are more accidents in the winter than the summer. i just might get lucky.
p.s. i got the update. i'll try it out this weekend and send back a report.

HAL,
Since the DSMlink doesn't control boost, will the tunerstein software be able to make adjustments to the boost settings still or will it need to be done through the controler you choose? Would only specific boost controllers be supported?

DSMLink does not do boost control, so you need a boost controller of some kind.
I've gone back to the Profec B

What about being able to load the boost map into the player so we can make adjustments with the tune by wire feature? Much like is already avaliable for the PMS, & AFC?

I already have a '95 EPROM ECU... My car happened to come with one (heh, being a '95 and all) :). It was manufactured in '94, but its still a '95. Ive been told that I cant use an ITC on my ECU though. Can you manipulate timing with the DSM Link?

i thought you couldn't use an ITC unless you had an EPROM. Anyone got info one this? i'm curious too.
