View Full Version : BOV question

I put a new BOV on the car last night, a Blitz Supersound. I have the spring set as soft as possible, and I'm still getting compressor surge when venting low boost, and a little compressor surge before it actually blows off at high boost.

Is there any way to fix this other than getting a lighter spring? Could this damage my turbo?

Thanks,
Patrick

i think we may need to tap the vacuum assist line some where else. the one on the TB may not be providing enough to help the bov open.

either that or your car doesn't make enough vacuum to open a stiff BOV.

Rob said the same thing, we might need to tap the vacuum line somewhere else. What vacuum does your car make? Mine shows 12" at idle, and 20" max when my car is decelerating.

DSM's usually make about 15-18 at idle. Not sure about the 420A's.

That doesn't seem like a BIG difference. Well, maybe it does if you see 18 at idle and I only see 20 max.

Brian, what vacuum do you get at idle?? Man, I love having another HRC turbocharged GS to compare stuff with!! :)

i miss sea-level. 24in at idle, 28 in gear. . thats some vacuum for ya.

we should probably tap it at the back of the mani. there is probably more vacuum in there than between the BOV and the TB.

Hmmm I find that interesting. I have never seen that high of vacuum. On either my 1G or 2g Even after I bought Steves car,(13k miles) it has never had anything over 12". right now it sits between 10-11" with 22K miles on it.
