Just want to publicly thank Art and Patrick for coming by my house Saturday and Sunday to help with the Yellow 1G's timing belt / water pump / accessory belt hell install! =) I couldn't have done it without you guys....well, maybe I could but I'd still be trying to turn the crank to line up the timing marks ;)

The water pump isn't leaking any more to my knowledge....but the engine still makes strange whirring sounds, like something is out of balance. Maybe that's what we get for skipping the Timing Belt B part? =/ Stupid special tools.....as we found out this weekend those special tools are the tools that had to ride the short bus going to tool school.

There's a few other coolant leaks due to 12 yr old rubber hoses in the engine bay, but nothing as annoying as a water pump.

HOWEVER, the Yellow 1G has the most annoying idle problem ever. From this day out I am offering a case of beer (or drug of your choice) or maybe I can hook you up with the blonde upstaris from me for whoever solves the idle surge / dying at idle problem! I have tried everything....I am at the mercy of the DSM gods at this point. I'd like this car to be "normal" so I can take down my 2G and do the clutch soon. 5k clutch dumps with a clutch that's already slipping just smells up the car and very quickly shortens the life of the almost bare CFDF.

Ready to take the rubber mallet to the Yellow car.

i WILL solve the idle problem! as god is my witness, it will be so! i will rebuild the worse engine, redo timing belts for no reason, rotate tires, be human BOV, for the hand of "the hot blonde upstairs"!

Well, I have a pretty good idea as to what is causing my stalling problems.....I need the speed sensor in the back of the speedo. I think mine is bad. So does anyone have a 1g m/t gauge cluster? I'd really love to borrow/buy it to test out and hopefully fix my problem.

all you saw was her back while she was walking away from your ass.:p

should have picked up one of those clusters while we were at the junk yard.

could it also be the ISC? i know mine died in idle when it went bad. is it throwing a CE?

No CE light, I think its the speed sensor (which doesn't throw a CE light sometimes).....

That junkyard was expensive though. My boss told me of some junkyards off of Las Vegas.....if I could find their phone numbers I would call them and ask if they had one.

This must be on the South side? How do I get there? Do they have a name? I'd rather call first than get rust poisoning and find nothing =)

I called them and 3 other places listed on Yahoo....Ken's, Go, and somewhere else...and none of them have 1gs in their lots. Ken says they have two but they doubt the dashes are still there. So it looks like my best bet is to go down to Rob's Friday night and pull the gauge cluster out of his junker. I say Fri night cuz all those meets are on Sat and I'll have to wash the 2g and stuff before that =)
