Ok, I finished installing a new stock clutch in a 91 GSX yesterday, but now it's making a "pfft" sound right at the engagement point whenever the clutch pedal is released. It sounded like it was coming from the slave cylinder, so I replaced it today with a new one with no change in the problem. It also sounds like the new throw out bearing is making it's faint rattle noise. At first it did it when the pedal was pressed down, but now it's doing it when the pedal is released. Both the "pfft" and rattle noises seem to be getting better, but I haven't even put 1 mile on it yet. Is this normal? I didn't think it would be. Oh, yes, I did grease the throw out bearing too (Vern can attest to that), and bled the system.
Thanks,
Cody
Damn, noises?
You mentioned they are getting better? How are they now?
Are the clutch pedal height and freeplay adjustments in spec.?
Where in the pedal travel, up from the floor, is the clutch disc re-engaging the flywheel?
Cody has grease now, hehe.

It stopped making both noises about a day or so after I started driving it, thank god. The throw out bearing did rattle one more time, that I noticed, a couple days ago, but it's so faint that it's hard to notice half the time. My 3" Buschur exhaust was still on it too, so that hampered trying to hear things. But we just swapped in the stock exhaust so I should be able to hear it now, if it's still going to do it. But it seems really good now, engagement, pedal feel, and shifting are all excellent. Benji and Nicole leave tomorrow for Missouri and it's pretty much broken in now, so it should be just fine. :)
Thanks!
Cody
