My engine is at Western right now being built. Im using Eagle Rods and Wiseco 8:1 comp. forged pistons, bored .040 over With a metal Headgasket. Im going to be running the 19c with a w/ a full upgraded fuel system and all the supporting mods.

So how should I break the engine in?
Should I use dino Oil for the first 800-1000 miles?
Or should I just go straight to Mobil 1 10W-30?
I heard the rings wont seat as well with Synthetic is this true?

What intervals should I change the oil in for the break in? 200, 500, 700, 1000, 2000 im not real sure help me out here.

And how many pounds of boost should I run on the break in?
And how long do I have to run low boost before I can turn it up?
Let me know what you guys think.

PS-I told Western to make the piston to wall clearance .0005 to .0006 does that sound about right. I think Western is going to call Wiseco to make sure. But Nathan at DSM performance set his engine up this way so I figured I would. He is running almost the exact same setup. I dont want my pistons rupping against the cyl. walls so I want to make sure this is setup right.

Is there anything else I should do while the engines apart?

Use dino oil for the first 1,000 to 1,500 miles. Do a lot of up/down shifting while breaking it in. Don't boost at all for the first 500 miles or so, but Dave knows more about that. I would also get ARP rod bolts and main bearing bolts while your in there, too.

No boost for 800-1000 miles. On a dsm you can run stock boost around 800-1000 but not for long periods of time. On a 420A turbo I would not boost it for the full 1000 miles.

Ok I only have my AVC-R I sold my mbc and I didint want to hook up the avc-r until the engine was running right. Is there a way to hook up the wastegate so no boost is produced.

What about Engine Oil, Should I break it in with dino oil for the first 800-1000 miles, then throw in the Mobil 1?
When should I change the oil for the break in?

Do you have an internal WG or external WG?

Oil changes should be done every 200 miles through 1000 miles. Use dino oil and then at 1000 miles put mobil 1 in. If you don't do the oil changes regularly you have a chance of old metal particles going through the engine...

I have an internal gated 19c

Thanks for the info Dave, does it matter what kind of dino oil, I kind of doubted it. Some cheap Walmart oil should work, right?

We used SuperFlo with both the cars when we did the breakin. So that should be sufficient.

Cool, Thanks. Hey do you think its worth the money to get my Wiseco pistons ceramic coated will it combat knock a little?

I had to send them back cause the stupid idiots forgot to machine the bosses on the inside so they will fit to the Eagle rods. So I figure I might as well ceramic coat them since I have been waiting so long already for them. later

Wouldn't hurt. My Ross's are 100% ceramic coated.
