Project: Trailer Bitch
I am in need of some info from you 4g63 guys. Sometime late this summer I want to start a new car, track only to be specific. I am looking for any info on the biggest badest parts that are available to the 4g63 so I can start my research and planning for my new car. I am going to start w/ the engine and work to the drive train and then to the body.
Any and all recommendations PLEASE. As some of you know I run a turboed 420a. I am very proficient w/ the 420a block and soon the drive train. I don’t on the other hand know all that much about the 4g63. So any help you can give me is very much appreciated.
Basically if you could buy whatever you wanted what would you buy? (Engine and drive train wise) Oh, and please explain

My name is Brian and I live in Lakewood. I drive a (at the moment) black primered 2gnt w/ body-kit and wing. It will be painted sometime soon to a black w/ blue pearl and possible gray flames on the front. I am also running the HRC stage 4 turbo kit on my car. (Why, because I like to be different) I still have some finishing touches to do to the car but I will be boosting 25+ on race gas by the first IDRC race this season.
Why you ask:)
Just wondering if I knew you, and I'd guess the answer to that question is no. :)

Buschur, of course, sells built short blocks but I'd go with either Fast Forward (www.ffwdconnection.com) or finding a block and have Western Engine build you a monster. Stay away from the stroker kit if you want to go AWD, but it'd be great for FWD. Stick with either JE or Ross pistons with Crower connecting rods and ARP main and rod bolts, but you already know most of that. :) Also, you'll want either the deck or head o-ringed for high boost.
There are numerous places that'll work a head to it's max potential, but I have talked to Darren King at Fast Forward and he really seems to know what he's doing. Also, I've heard good things about Western Engine's head work too. Get HKS 272 cams only, stay away from the other manufacturer's cams. 1mm over stainless steel valves and titanium retainers will be necessary too. Obviously you'll be slapping on a large turbo so get a Stage 4, or higher, head with the 1mm oversize valves, etc to allow that turbo to breath.
Talk to Robert at Forced Performance (www.forcedperformance.com) about turbos and stay away from the Frankenstein turbos. The Red from FP would be a good choice, but you could go with a full Garrett turbo with a header to adapt it to and then you'll have unlimited upgrading potential with the Garrett. Tial or HKS wastegates are the best. I like to have them mounted after the turbo on a custom 02 housing dumped to the atmosphere (you can check out how our '90 Talon is set up), but others really like them mounted on the header.
You'll have plenty of choices for front mount intercoolers, but the racing intercooler from Buschur is really nice!
You'll need a sheetmetal intake to take full advantage of all the air coming in. Also, a 3" Mustang throttle body from BBK works very well with a sheetmetal intake setup.
You'll want a full SX fuel system too along with a fuel cell.
Definately go with a stand alone ECU, I'd recommend Haltech above all others.
Definately get the tranny freshened, check out Team RIP Engineering (www.teamrip.com) for trannys. If you get a mid '92 AWD or earlier then you'll want to swap to the 4 bolt rearend from the later '92s and after, same goes with the transfercase and make sure the tranny you have has the correct spline count on the output shaft to mate to the later transfercase.
You may want to get a direct port nitrous system also. Ask Hal or Dave about that.
There are a few drag suspension setups for the AWD out there. I believe Extreme or DSS (www.diamondstarspecialties.com) has some good ones.
Nitto drag radials or Toyo drag radials on 16" Volk TE37s are the best choice for wheels/tires.
