Anybody up for a little 1.7 mile closed course road racing? Just 20 mins from Denver. The next scheduled event is June 15th. This is a sanctioned event held by the Mercedes Car Club. You have to be a member to run, $45 a year, but you need not own a Mercedes. This qualifies you for the entire year, each day after the yearly dues is $60 and you run from 7am till dark. Not too bad considering that a 4 hour session for testing at SC is sixty bucks normally. The next event will have the Mercedes, Miata's, Porsche, Z club, and misc others out there as well. And of course a few Vipers and Modena's. We have a group of about 7 DSM's that come on most events. They run 3 groups, the quick, the fast, and the insane class. This is also a good day for newbies, they usually put a seasoned driver with you for a few laps. You'll want it.. They run the 3 classes in 20 minutes increments, spacing the cars by 4-5 seconds, that's a ton of seat time. I'm talking about hours in a day, not seconds like Bandi. The snack bar is open as well. It's free to spectate as well. You MUST have working seatbelts and a helmut too. These events have run a 100% accident free rate for the last 5 years. People spin off the track, some people crash, just not into anyone else. There's more than just foot on the floor action out there. Come on guys and gals, come get some.

Sounds like that might be a good date for the Type R vs Eclipse showdown. I'll see if I can set it up. I honestly don't think it'll happen but we'll see.

That day would be perfect. Lots of really cool guys and super-dooper track cars. I really enjoy running with Grant, half owner of Autowerks Motorsports, with his m3, and John First in the Audi. Both are highly modded and run consistant 1.20's.

Erron! I was at the track yesterday (12th) and I was hopeing to see ya there. I guess other plans crept up? Anyway. I HAD A BLAST and MY 1st circle around the track was.. I am soooo hooked. I thought i'd be fun but it turns out that it was more fun than I even dreamed! All you other guys who havent gone yet, you are missing out on something you're not realizing until you go! And by the way. That lil camera that i got from Erron, was mounted on the lower part of my bumper where my fog light is. Too bad I forgot to bring my camera remote to engauge the record function for vcr mode on it. :( So instead, I snagged a couple people to go around the track in my passenger seat to take some videos from the seat. P.S. I ran a 1:28 on very muchy breaks and warped rotors. My lil 1st gen brakes are now very shot. I need a quick and effective replacement/upgrade. Can someone recomend me a brand or type to get for the fronts? I need soon!! I was thinking Willwood but it's to expensive. Maybe 3000gt brakes? Anything as affective/cheap, new?

Erik, I would buy a set of R4-E's from Porterfield for pads. Their like stones and don't fade too easily. I would also call 3R Automotive in Englewood and see if they can get you the Titanium pad shields, they sheild the brake piston from the outragous temps of the pad. I believe they even stock them for your car? I had mine custom made by them for $250. They REALLY do the trick. Other than the Power slot rotors, porterfields, and some Motul 600 brake fluid, that should be all you need for lap after lap racing action. I'm also working on a brake cooling duct for the 1g. Want to be the test bed? Are you coming out on June 15th for next event, i hope so!! I will be there with bells on and the camera rollin'....

i think i might got to this as well. If my car is as abad as i think it is i will be out there, i am in severe need of brake as well, i am going to get ther slotted powerslot rotors, and some kind of high perfomance pads. i still have the stock syspension (sp?) and handling is decent but not great. i think it would still be a good time, need to round up some money, and see what i can get done on my car.

i might have a waterskiing tournement that day but i'll see what i can do. What is the grand total i would need in the ways of money, just so i can race? If i don't race i'll at least watch.

I think to run it's $60 but I'm not sure if that's for all day.

It's $60 for the whole day, 7am till dark. But don't forget you must be a Mercedes Car Club member, $45 for the whole year and you do not need to own a mercedes. If you want to run your car and get signed up, it's really easy. Call Paul Prigge at 303-798-2284. He will tell you what to do. I know so far it will be me in the stealth, Paul-1g, Doug-1g, Mike-1g, Shawn-1g, and hopefully Erik-1g. There is always a few more as well. Come on out fellas!!
