well i have came across a turbo (14b), IC, head, ic pipes, o2 housing, and i need to figure out what do i want to do. I have a talon with tons of supporting mods that would love to have boost and could handle the boost a 14b puts out but i need to know what you guys think. I have 2 engines on in the talon and one that will go into a car. It does not take much to boost a nt and i can do it easy but do you think it would be better to just start building on the other block?

IMO, if you are gonna run a turbo set up, do it on the built engine. you know it will handle it. but make sure the other engine runs well too. if you blow the race engine (the one you may turbo), your fortunate enough to have another running engine to drop in while the other is getting fixed.

Isn't your NT motor built from a turbo block to begin with? If so, slap it on!

well its a nt block with a 4g64 crank with turbo rods and je custom pistons. There are no oil jets but from what buschur said is not needed do the the extra "splash" the crank makes because of its size.

So,I guess you're finally giving up on the all-motor route?

If you're only putting a 14b on the car, most of the guys/girls on this list will probably STILL be running away from you.

Good point.
You definetly need to go with a bigger turbo plus you still are FWD and need more top end power.

i'm thinking with that built engine, a properly setup turbo and some good tires. 13s aren't out of the question. which is sill quick for that car. mabe with a 16g and some slicks 12s are possible.

who knows

Steve W. ran a 13.11 on a 14b W/ stock ic. Same setup as me but i have 1 advantage. I HAVE TOO MUCH CRAP ON MY CAR. I think that 12's are not out of the question. However i will have a terrible time tuning, i will have to use race gas, knock will be a lesson that i will learn many times over and over.

James also has like 10.5:1 compression....

I would take your built engine remove the pistons and put in some 1g 7.8:1 pistons or some 2g 8.5:1 pistons or even some forged pistons. That way you wouldent have to worry about is much knock and you could run a fair amount more of boost. You would probably only have to replace the pistons and the bearings. If the honing is still good.

they are 8.5:1 pistons in a 2.0 but in a 2.4 they are 10.8:1

So the 2.0L you have came out of a turbo DSM then. If so I would do a compression check if everything checks out. Then I would use that motor, its made too handle a turbo and you also have the oil jets on that motor to help out lubrication. It would be cheaper then putting new pistons and bearings in your motor.

Of course the electrical hookups are probably all differient in the turbo motor. And your ECU wont just hook right up to that motor like your other one, so that's another big problem your going to have to deal with, and its probably not worth the headache to try to swap that motor into your car. So actually it would probably be easier to just swap in new pistons and bearings into your motor that's in your car now.

Or just sell it altogether and find a 1g Turbo with a blown motor and swap your other 2.0 into that.

Tough Call, Good Luck
