I'm installing my egt gauge and was wondering about placement. The directions say to put it about 1-2 inches from the head, is this correct?
Also, when I drill and tap the manifold, should I take it off first? I was mostly worried about shavings getting into the head and all. Thanks in advance!!

You can either A) take the exhaust manifold off to tap it, or B) drill the hole with the engine running and the exhaust gas pressure will push the shavings out.
But since it's not that difficult to remove the manifold, the safest and easiest way would probably be to just take it off.

Yeah so the probe is installed and my other hold plugged up but there is still a problem. The car when cold idles funny, and likes to stick up around 2k when coming to a stop. It seems to be find when its warmed up though. Do you think I could be interupting airflow with the plug and the probe in the same runner? Thats the only thing I can think of. Maybe it will get better as the ECU figures it out??
