I might buy this 92 talon tsi I found..... but what are some common things to look for as far as breaking and stuff???

it seams to be in good shape, engine was rebuilt 10,000 miles ago, it needs new plugs, wires and shock, timing belt and tensioner pulley but was holding 10-11 psi steady when I tested the boost...

one thing though is that its kind of hard to get it into reverse, and the clutch engages with the pedal almost at the floor, is that normal?

thanks,
bootedTSI (soon to have my own TSI)

you can adjust where the pedal engages, so thats not a big deal. other than that, ask someone with a 1g logger to go for a drive with you.

I ran a compression test and got 130 psi on all cylinders... is that low for a rebuilt engine that only has 10k miles?

My car tested at 127-133 across the cylinders and mine has 111,000 hard miles on it. It's been modded since 45,000 miles and has been down the strip over 350 times since '96.

I would be a little iffy about that engine.

I'm gonna pass on this car, it need way to much work, and he cant provide any paper work showing the engine was actually rebuilt and not replaced with one from a junk yard.... it was done at a dealership in castlerock, and I dont trust any dealership

it also needs 800 in parts so every thing is working plus a new turbo:rolleyes: , it sounds like a bum deal

thanks for all the help guys:)
