well about a week ago all my interior lights decided to go out.
no porblem, i'll replace the fuse. hahaha, still doesn't work. maybe its the 7 guages i have hooked up off the interior light wire. so i unhook them and wahlah, no lights. i try hooking up the guages somewhere else, no they don't work either.
god damn it! (sorry to you religious types) motherfucker! don't tell me i have $700 worth of blown electric guages now. don't tell me i have some fucked up wire that i can't find that controls the entire light system blown.
fuck it, i might as well take it to Satan since i suck so bad at diagnosing electrical problems. i even managed to fry my puter this week too.
i'll stick to wrenching from now on.

hey, I blew up a $1100.00 DFI unit. Wiring sucks. They sent me a new one though. I lucked out big time.
Something is probably grounded somewhere...

so does any one know if there is a fuse to the interior lights on a 2g? haha, didn't think so. so how do you find out where the short is?

you fallow from the first 12v line that goes to the dimmer switch with a volt meter till you dont get power... it takes about 2 hours if your lucky, 10 if your not, a life time if god states "LET THERE BE NO LIGHT FOR ART".
BUt on a seperate note, ART you think you have it bad... i ran a second faster then a year ago, WITH ONLY 3 CYLINDERS... and im not talking about one cylinder having a bad ring, im talking about no power going to the injector... SO HERE IS THE RESULT

You should have bought a 1g:p ...
Either way Super Talon is right, youre gonna have to trace the wire as far as you can. Look in a service manual and find where the wire goes to. First off check to see if that wire is grounded by a resistance to ground check. Then start searching for where the wire is getting 12v and where its getting 0v. Just keep narrowing it down till you get it.
Ive had a hummvee problem where the lights would come on the turn off, after a few seconds they would pop on and off real quick. It was coming off and on cause of a thermal fuse, and there was a power wire that we traced all the way back to the winch that was grounded out. It took me 3 days to find it working 8 hour days. Im just saying that it might take some time but eventually youll find it.
I had an idea for people that have tons of guages and other misc. after market electronics. I was gonna make a box that just used a slight amount of power from each output ie. Light power, key switched power to switch a relay.
I was just gonna use a relay setup and run about 6 outputs each for Lights, keyed, constant, and a switched voltage.. But i never got around to it, and i was thinking that it would be a pretty beefy project. Maybe ill get around to it someday.
